It was lovely to see a rather special four-legged visitor make an appearance at a recent church service. 🐾

Our pets are such an important part of our lives and families, and it is often easy to forget just how important we are to them too. The bond between people and their pets is something truly special, built on love, companionship and loyalty.

Seeing this little cat quietly join the service was a lovely reminder that, sometimes, comfort and companionship can come on four paws!

Our Navy Pinstripe was commented on by one of our families this week…

“Just how much difference a well-turned-out support team makes to the whole experience on the day.

The bearers, drivers and everyone supporting the funeral may not say very much, but their presence is felt.

When a team looks smart, coordinated and attentive, it brings a real sense of care, order and reassurance.

And credit where it is due to Waterhouse's, whose close attention to this is obvious. The way a team presents itself says a great deal about the standards behind the service too.” 👍

We were delighted to receive such lovely feedback. It is often the small details that make a difference, and we take great pride in ensuring that every member of our team looks smart, professional and ready to provide the very best support to the families in our care.

100 years - Century of Service

At Waterhouse Funeral Directors, we understand that choosing a funeral director is a deeply personal decision. Families need to know their loved one is in the hands of people they can trust.

For 100 years, we have cared for local families, combining a wealth of experience and deep community roots with exceptionally well-equipped facilities and a high standard of care.

Our open-door policy welcomes families to visit our premises, meet our team and see our facilities for themselves.

Our support also continues long after the funeral, offering practical help, guidance and friendship, alongside bereavement coffee mornings, grief seminars, walk and talk groups and support for local clubs and organisations.

Experience, exceptional facilities, openness and genuine care – before, during and long after the funeral. That is what sets Waterhouse Funeral Directors apart.

Our community is very lucky to have the beautiful Wealden Crematorium right on our doorstep, with its peaceful grounds, memorial garden, community orchard, woodland and an abundance of wildflowers and wildlife.
This year’s Open Day is a great opportunity to explore the facilities, take a guided tour and find out more about what happens behind the scenes. There will also be a fascinating series of talks from experts, covering topics including choosing an independent funeral director, navigating the bureaucracy of death, celebrating a life using technology, cremator technology and how metal recycling from cremations supports charities.
There will also be a talk exploring who takes care of a funeral when there is no family or money.
It can be reassuring to familiarise yourself with a place before the day of a funeral. Whether you may attend a service at Wealden Crematorium in the future or are simply curious to discover more, the Open Day is definitely worth a visit!

Century of Service - Serving our community for 100 years.
Burwash Primary School recently took part in a special colouring competition hosted by us to celebrate our 100th year of serving our local community.
The competition celebrated our long-standing connection with Bateman's, the former home of Rudyard Kipling, author of The Jungle Book, and coincided with the National Year of Reading 2026.
The children created some wonderful jungle-themed artwork during their art lessons, showing great imagination and creativity. Every child received a certificate, all artwork will be displayed in our office windows for all to enjoy. The winning entries will also be exhibited at Bateman's during its Christmas celebrations. Winners were awarded National Book Tokens and complimentary passes to Batemans for them and their families to see their artwork in place.
Our congratulations go to all of the children for their fantastic efforts. Please enjoy the winners.
Congratulations to everyone who took part! Thank you to the wonderful pupils and staff at Burwash CE Primary School for making our Centenary Colouring Competition such a success. 📚🎨
