Year 3 Fire Door Replacement & Maintenance Project Update – West Suffolk College
We are pleased to have completed our third year working alongside our fantastic client at West Suffolk College, as part of a wider programme supporting their estate.
Following our initial inspections almost four years ago, a clear plan was developed to upgrade a number of fire doors throughout the college complex. We have now completed the final replacement door sets within the original programme, bringing the total number of door sets replaced since 2023 to an impressive 288.
This summer marked the final phase of the initial replacement programme, with a further 92 door sets replaced.
All replacement door sets were supplied by Youngs Doors, with each set factory-hung, factory-painted and Q-Mark certified, providing full certification and traceability throughout. We have also had the pleasure of replacing 3 steel final exit door sets supplied by Strongdor.
We have also welcomed supporting site audits from both of our accreditation bodies, BM TRADA and Bluesky, receiving clean audits and fantastic feedback from both.
Our trusted spraying partner, Kraft Coatings, is now working evenings to complete the final decorations and making good to architraves, ensuring each building is finished in line with its existing colour scheme.
Whilst the replacement programme may now be complete, our work with West Suffolk College continues. We will be supporting the client with an ongoing maintenance programme covering both the new and existing maintained door sets. Through our cloud-based asset management system, incorporating QR-tagged assets, the client has access to a complete audit trail and maintenance history whenever required.
With the college being so close to our offices and several members of our team having attended the college themselves, this project has always felt particularly close to home. It has been, and continues to be, a pleasure working with West Suffolk College and supporting the ongoing safety and maintenance of their estate.
