We know that navigating support for children and young people with extra needs can feel overwhelming- especially at the start of your journey. That’s why Bury’s local SEND Partnership (including Bury Council, education, health, and voluntary sector partners) is creating a brand-new Pathways to Support Those with Extra Needs Handbook

This guide is being written with your experiences in mind and we want to hear from you!

We’re designing a series of events for parents and carers of young people with SEND, focused on the journey of Preparing for Adulthood (PfA).

These sessions will offer:
✨ Opportunities to connect with professionals
✨ Access to tailored advice
✨ A chance to meet others navigating similar experiences

Whether it’s understanding post-16 options, exploring supported internships, or planning for independent living, we want to hear what’s most important to you.

The Bury Portage team and SEND Health visiting team are hosting two drop-in sessions to provide support and advice with any aspect of your child’s transition in school.

We would like to congratulate Riley and Gabe, who have completed the Autism Dogs' Pawsome 50 Miles for ÂŁ50k Challenge. Alongside children and staff at Mill School Bury, they have raised ÂŁ1,092 for the charity!

Riley is a pupil at Mill School Bury and a Youth Ambassador for Autism Dogs. Riley's assistance dog, Nimbus, attends school with him each day and will continue to do so at college! Nimbus assists Riley in so many ways, from reducing his anxiety, helping him navigate life with greater independence and confidence and providing sensory support.

Well done to everyone who took part!
