On the 16 and 17 June, our Muslim residents are marking Hijri, the start of a new year in the Islamic calendar.

The date coincides with the journey of the prophet Mohammed and his followers from Mecca to Medina, known as the Hijrah.

After the Hijrah, the Prophet declared in the Constitution of Medina, that Muslims are a universal brotherhood with a unique identity in faith and ideology.

Umar ibn Al-Khattab, a close companion of Prophet Muhammad and the second caliph, subsequently adopted Hijrah as the reference point for the Islamic calendar, either in 638 CE or 639 CE.

We wish all of our Muslim residents a blissful and peaceful Hijri Islamic New Year.

FAIRFAX ROAD IS NOW OPEN 🎉

Today marks another major milestone for the Travel Hub, as Fairfax Road reopens permanently following the period of closures. Road users can now return to travelling as usual, seven days a week.

Closures have been in place since October to enable VINCI Building to safely and efficiently construct the Travel Hub.

We would like to thank the local community once again for their patience and understanding throughout this period. Your support has helped us to keep this £14m+ project on track, bringing us one step closer to opening the Travel Hub this summer, which will then pave the way for the next phase of the village regeneration.

Great news that the road re-opens later today

FAIRFAX ROAD IS REOPENING ON FRIDAY 12th JUNE 2026 AT 5PM 🎉

A big milestone for the Travel Hub!

Thank you for bearing with us during the closure of Fairfax Road. Your patience and support has helped keep this major £14m+ project on track - and now the countdown to the summer opening is officially on.

Final touches are underway and it’s all starting to come together. We can’t wait to show you what’s coming next.
