Our Recycling Centres are open as usual over the August Bank Holiday 🙌🏻
You can visit from 8am - 8pm.
The only exception is Salford Road, which is open 10am – 4pm on Bank Holidays.
Planning a visit? The quietest times are before 11am and after 5pm.

Improvement works in Fishpool and Pimhole are continuing with resurfacing work starting Tues 1 Sept on Parkhills Road.

The road will be closed between Pilot Street and Market Street roundabout.

Residents will have received a leaflet explaining access and when to put out their bins.

We know that active travel schemes can generate strong views, but our focus is on creating safer, more accessible routes that give people genuine travel choices. Success means delivering improvements that support local communities while helping people move around the borough more easily and safely.

As part of our commitment to you we have introduced weekly reporting of the work we have done maintaining our highways.

During the week of 10-14 Aug we repaired:

• 232 pot holes
• 73 other highway defects

Our teams continue to prioritise safety critical defects and address road damage across the borough. We can’t fix all defects at the same time but prioritise to make sure the funding we have is used where it has the greatest safety impact.

How we prioritise:

• Road defects that are a threat to safety are always prioritised first.
• Location
• Size and depth of the defect
• Position in the road
• Category of road
• Number of highway users
• Whether we already plan to fix the issue as part of an improvement or preventative maintenance scheme

Working together to create a stronger, healthier Whitefield

The Whitefield Live Well Centre is more than just a renovated building. It's a welcoming community space designed with local people, for local people.

From the very start, residents have helped shape the centre in countless ways. They have influenced everything from choosing the flooring, wall colours and café seating, to deciding what food they wanted to see on the menu. Community members even chose the name of the café, Our Place, and shared their hopes for the activities, services and support they would like the centre to provide.

This video brings together voices from Bury Council, Bury VCFA and local community partners who have worked alongside residents to turn a shared vision into reality.

Thanks to this collaborative approach, the centre offers a growing programme of activities and opportunities for people of all ages, including family and children's sessions, wellbeing activities, support services, community groups, a community library and the Our Place Community Café.

Located on Albert Road, Whitefield, the centre is now open, and everyone is welcome to come along, meet the team and explore what's on offer.

Together, we're creating a place where people can access support, build connections and thrive, a place shaped by the community and built around what matters most to local people.
