TRAVEL ALERT: 🚧 Overnight resurfacing works - Rochdale Rd/Heywood St/Bond St junction

📅 1–5 June 2026
🕗 8pm–6am (overnight to minimise disruption)
⛔ Heywood Street closed (Mason Street to Rochdale Road)
⛔ Heywood St and Bond St closed at their junctions with Rochdale Road
✅ Rochdale Road will be signal controlled, so through traffic can still travel along it.
🔁 Overnight diversion route: Heywood Street > Parkhills Road > Wellington Road > Manchester Road > Angouleme Way > Rochdale Road

⚠️ Lane closures for pedestrian safety improvements will be ongoing until the end of June when the junction fully re-opens ✅

These improvements are part of Fishpool and Pimhole Bee Active Travel Scheme to enhance connectivity to Bury town centre and local facilities.

We’re making it safer and easier to walk, wheel or cycle, helping to reduce local car trips and encourage healthier, greener ways to travel

The cancer awareness roadshow will be visiting Bury at the following dates and locations👇

Thursday 4th June – Morrisons, Ramsbottom
Friday 5th June – Tesco, Prestwich
Saturday 13th June – Radcliffe Carnival
Thursday 18th June – Morrisons, Whitefield

The friendly team will be on hand to talk to the residents of Bury about the signs and symptoms of cancer you should look out for, cancer screening and what to do if you’re worried about cancer.

Ramsbottom Streets for All presentation event

Thank you to everyone who shared feedback on the proposals for Ramsbottom - we’ve listened and revised our plans to make it easier, safer and more attractive for everyone to travel to and around Ramsbottom town centre.

Following responses from more than 1,500 residents and businesses we have made changes to the proposals including removing the proposed one-way system.

The revised scheme will:
✅ Provide new and improved crossings
✅ Widen and improve footpaths
✅ Retain a 20mph speed limit
✅ Support walking, wheeling and cycling
