From the beginning of April 2014, working in partnership with the Parks and Countryside Service, Bury Employment Support and Training (Bury EST) have taken over the management of the Manchester Road Park bowling facility. We will look to expand on current provision by providing not just the successful operation of the bowling facility, but looking to develop additional activities and opportunities
to improve the confidence, self esteem, health and independence of disabled and disadvantaged funded local residents; at the same time increase volunteering opportunities and develop community involvement for everyone using the park. The cafΓ© opened to the general public at the end of August and we are currently looking to up-skill our customers through qualifications and on the job training, to increase their independence and maximize their chances of meaningful employment. The success of the project to date has been so astonishing, that Bury EST offered employment to 3 customers, working predominately at the park, with the potential of affording more employment opportunities to local disabled and disadvantage customers as the project continues. The community cafΓ© is open Monday to Friday 10.00am β to 3.30pm Monday to Friday every week, so please spread the word that the cafΓ© is now open and please feel free to pop in and take a look around the facilities.
