🌊 Supporting the Restoration of Portrush Blue Pool

The Blue Pool is an important part of Portrush’s coastal and bathing heritage, with generations of memories attached to it. Restoring this facility would give people the opportunity to create new memories while preserving a much-loved part of our town.

These improvements would make better use of our natural coastal assets, providing a safe, accessible and affordable facility for locals and visitors to enjoy throughout the year.

Cold-water swimming also offers an opportunity for people to get outdoors and support their overall wellbeing.

This is about protecting our heritage, meeting the needs of our community and making the most of what our beautiful coastline has to offer. A positive step forward for Portrush! 👏🌊

🌺 Pop-Up Poppy Shop in Bushmills

The Bushmills Royal British Legion will be opening its Pop-Up Poppy Shop at Creative Gardens, Bushmills, offering an opportunity to support the annual Poppy Appeal and remember those who have served.

📢 New Parking App for Causeway Coast & Glens

I welcome the introduction of RingGo as the new cashless parking provider across the Council’s 17 charged car parks from Sunday 8 November 2026, replacing JustPark.

🅿️ RingGo will offer motorists a flexible way to pay for parking, including through the app, by phone, text or online. Coins will also continue to be accepted at Council car parks.

⚠️ Important reminder: Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council does not use QR codes for parking payments. Please do not scan QR codes claiming to offer Council parking payments.

Progress on the Runkerry Bridge

A lovely update for our local area, with the Runkerry Bridge expected to be completed by the end of the year! 🎄

This will be very welcome news for locals and visitors who enjoy the beautiful coastal route between Portballintrae and the Giant’s Causeway.

After a long wait, having the bridge back in place before Christmas would be a fantastic boost for the area and a nice Christmas present for the community.

Great to see this progress being made, and I look forward to seeing the project completed.

🐶 ‘𝗟𝘂𝗰𝘆’𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝘄’ 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗡𝗜 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗹!

✅ Lucy’s Law has taken another important step towards becoming law in Northern Ireland.

The implementation of this law will give Councils stronger powers to tackle abusive puppy farming and improve animal welfare.

😺 No more third-party sales - puppies and kittens will have to be sold directly by the breeder or through a registered rehoming centre, giving greater transparency over where animals come from.

📋 Breeders and sellers will have to be registered with their local council.

🤝 Credit is also due to my party colleagues Robin Newton and Keith Buchanan, who kept this issue on the agenda over recent years.

This was a DUP manifesto commitment, and I’m pleased to see it now progressing to the next stage.

A significant step forward for animal welfare in Northern Ireland. 🐾

🌊 Progress on the Runkerry Footpath

Pleased to see progress being made on plans to restore the footpath and pedestrian crossing at Runkerry.

The licensing arrangements are now moving forward, alongside the permissive path agreement for Runkerry Head. This is an important step towards improving access along this popular coastal route.

With the winter months approaching, getting this work progressed is particularly important given the increased water flow through Runkerry Burn.

A positive development for both the local community and the many visitors who enjoy this beautiful part of our coastline. 🌊
