In 2026, our 130th anniversary year, we’re proud to keep sharing breathtaking views, rich history and summit memories with every generation. Take a once in a lifetime adventure on the Snowdon Mountain Railway which has been described as one of the most scenic railway journeys in the world. Trains depart from Llanberis Station and begin their climb to the summit of Snowdon, Yr Wyddfa, a journey exp

erienced by millions of travellers since 1896. With stunning scenery and awe-inspiring views it’s all part of a great day out for you and your family in North Wales. Two services are available, the Heritage Steam Experience and the Traditional Diesel Service. Pre-booking is highly recommended as we do sell out during school holidays and spells of fine weather. Snowdon Mountain Railway is a seasonal attraction open mid-March to the end of October (weather permitting).

Yesterday, we installed a new piece at Hafod Eryri as part of the Retracing Footsteps project.

At the summit of Yr Wyddfa, visitors are invited to pause and leave something behind — a drawing, a poem, a thought, a memory, or simply a few words about their experience.

Every mark tells a story. Together, these contributions create a record of the many different ways people experience and connect with the mountain.

We’re really pleased to see this next part of the Retracing Footsteps project come to life, and we can’t wait to see what visitors leave behind.

Created in partnership with Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri - Eryri National Park, University of Chester, Bangor University (including Dr Daniel Bos and Dr Alan Summers), and Snowdonia Design and Print.

Great news - we’re extending our season! 🎉

We’re excited to share that we'll be open during October Half Term, with trains operating from Friday 23rd October to Sunday 1st November 2026! 🚂

We’ll be running both steam and diesel services to Clogwyn, giving you the chance to enjoy the spectacular autumn scenery of Eryri from the railway 🍂

📷 FOUND CAMERA AT THE SUMMIT

A Canon SX500 IS camera has been found outside the visitor entrance at the summit building on Yr Wyddfa.

From the photos on the camera, it looks like its owners were up at the summit at around 6:00 yesterday morning - and there are some lovely photos from what looks like a special trip to Wales.

We’d love to get this camera back to its owner, so if you know someone who was on the mountain early yesterday morning, please get in touch with us by private message.

For privacy, we’ve deliberately shared a photo from behind rather than showing anyone’s face.
