Update 3:

I still haven’t had a direct response from the CCBC Parks/Playgrounds team, despite my email being forwarded on and chased.
My next step is to formally ask for a named contact, a clear timescale for response, and information on how the park can be assessed for future improvements. I’ll also be copying in local councillors so they are aware that we are still waiting for a proper reply.
I’ll keep pushing this forward and will continue collecting petition signatures and community support.

Update 2:

Nothing much has happened, unfortunately.
I’ve had a reply from Caerphilly Council confirming that my email has been passed on and that they will ask for a response from the relevant team as soon as possible.
I also tried ringing the Parks number today but couldn’t get through, so my next step is to keep chasing for a named contact in the Parks/Playgrounds team and to ask what the official process is for getting the park assessed for future improvements.
In the meantime, I’ll continue collecting petition signatures and community support so we can show how many local families would like to see the park opposite Co-op in Bedwas improved.

Week 1 Quick update:

I have emailed CCBC about the park opposite Co-op in Bedwas and have received an automated reply confirming they have received it.
I’m hoping to hear back soon. If I don’t receive a response, I’ll follow it up again this week.

The park opposite Co-op in Bedwas is a well-used community space for local children, families and young people. However, the current park could be improved to make it more accessible, inclusive, exciting and suitable for a wider range of ages.
We are asking Bedwas, Trethomas and Machen Community Council and Caerphilly County Borough Council to explore options to redevelop and improve the park, including possible funding through Community Infrastructure Levy funding, play area improvement funding, inclusive play funding, grants or partnership funding.
We would like the park to include:
Accessible paths around and through the park
Inclusive play equipment for children with additional needs
Swings for younger and older children
A larger slide
A zip line
More climbing and balancing equipment
A role-play area for younger children
Seating for older children and teenagers
Seating for parents in both shaded and sunny areas
Better bins, landscaping and general upkeep
This park has real potential to become a safer, more welcoming and more enjoyable space for the whole community.
