It is Defib Tuesday, and this week the team is at 𝗕𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗵𝘆, near Drymen.

The defibrillator is publicly accessible in the small community of Buchanan Smithy, alongside the row of old estate cottages. A quiet rural spot like this is exactly where knowing your nearest defib location matters most.

Trossachs Search and Rescue is at the Scottish Community Resuscitation Conference in St Andrews today.

The conference is organised by East Neuk First Responders and focuses on community resuscitation: the CPR, defibrillator access and public awareness work that helps people survive cardiac arrest.

CPR is part of the outdoor first aid training team members keep up to date. The team also delivers CPR and defibrillator sessions to schools and community groups across the area, because the more people who know what to do, the better.

Starting CPR straight away and using a defibrillator as soon as one is available can more than double a person's chance of survival. Would you know what to do?

Last week, the team covered broken bones. The session looked at the signs and symptoms of a fracture and the different types of splints used to support an injury until the casualty can be moved or handed over to the ambulance service.

Thanks to Conor from Helensburgh First Aid for being our willing casualty for the evening.

Casualty care is a core skill for every member of the team, and regular sessions like this keep those skills sharp for when they are needed on a callout.

Two brave volunteers are swapping long hair for a good cause, and TSART is one of the beneficiaries.

Michelle and Lynda are having their hair cut this Fri, 21 August, in support of both the Little Princess Trust and Trossachs Search and Rescue. The Little Princess Trust provides free real hair wigs to children and young people experiencing hair loss due to cancer or other conditions. Michelle and Lynda are each donating around 2ft of hair (roughly 17 to 19 inches), well above the 12 inch minimum the charity needs.

At the same time, they're raising vital funds for the team. So far they've raised £540 of their £1,000 target.

The cut takes place at 4pm on Friday 21 August at Simply Styles Hair Studio , Aberfoyle, with Louise doing the honours. Weather permitting, it'll be done outside so anyone who wants to watch can come along.

11 years. Three Toyota Hiluxes, one Renault Kadjar, and over 100,000 miles across the Trossachs and beyond.

Our sponsorship with Arnold Clark has come to an end, and we owe them the biggest thank you this team can give. Since 2015, they've supplied and maintained our vehicles at no cost, shared our work far and wide, and showed up for us time and time again. Far more than we ever had any right to expect from a sponsor.
Those vehicles have carried us to searches, community events, and the maintenance and checking of over 120 public access defibrillators across the Trossachs. Wherever the team needed to be, Arnold Clark got us there.

Congratulations to Willie and Anita, who were married recently at Fintry Village Hall. Ring bearer duties on the day went to their dogs, Ronnie and Reggie.

In lieu of wedding presents, the couple asked their guests to donate to two local organisations, and raised £367 for Trossachs Search and Rescue.

Dogs play an important part in the team's work too, with search dogs Bowie and our trainee dogs Bean, Otis and Chester, a key part of the team's search capability.

Donations like this help keep the team trained, equipped and ready to respond.
