Over the last two weeks 21 Silver DofE students completed their practice expedition on Dartmoor, and 32 Bronze DofE students completed their expedition on the Rame Peninsula.

Dartmoor dished up what is becoming an annual tradition, biblical rain and strong winds, but this year it added very poor visibility of about 30m.

The Bronze expedition avoided most, but not all of the rain, but again visibility was very poor. They unfortunately did not get to enjoy any of the stunning views of Plymouth Sound and the Rame Peninsula due to thick mist. The students demonstrated all those attributes that participation in DofE seeks to develop. For some students it was an opportunity to show that they have the skills, not only to look after themselves, but also support their fellow teammates. For others, sore feet and achy bodies meant they had to dig deep and show resilience and determination to make it to the end.

An absolute pleasure for the staff involved. Two more expeditions to go, this week is looking like a toastie one! ☀️

Yesterday, 80 of our Year 7 and 8 students took part in a STEM event - building, coding and adding sensors to robots and testing them out.

It was an absolutely fantastic opportunity and the students were completely engaged. It was funded and run by the brilliant Antony Hyett from Hyett Education and Royal Air Force Youth Engagement Team.
