Sunday Update 🌊

A busy one as always for the team today!

We kicked things off with a visit from our Maintenance Technician Kenny, who carried out essential servicing on our rescue water craft 🛠️

Our Rookie Lifeguards were back for another full day of training. This week’s theory covered beach profiles and beach hazards, before heading into the water to practice throw bag rescues, tube rescues, and some board skills in choppier-than-usual conditions 🌊🛟

A real highlight was the return of our inshore rescue boat (IRB) after a short time away — and even better, some of our Rookies and crew members got the chance to go afloat for IRB training 🚤🔥

To round off the day, our trainee beach lifeguards completed a mock run-through 📝 ahead of their final assessments happening over the next few weeks 💪

Thank You Thursday 🤩🙏

This Thank You Thursday, we’re sending a huge thank you to the amazing team at NCI - Calshot Tower & Stone Point! A few weeks ago, they welcomed our crew into the watch tower for a guided tour — and what an experience it was 👀🌊

Seeing firsthand how Calshot NCI monitors the Solent and keeps the public safe gave our team a deeper appreciation of the vital role they play 🛟💙 It also highlighted how closely their work connects with what we do as an independent beach rescue service 🚤🤝

We’re incredibly grateful for the insight, the time, and the warm welcome

“I’m part of the Shore Crew, a Trustee, RLSS UK Rookie Lifeguard and Lifesaving Instructor, and the SLSGB Lifesaving Officer”

⏳ How long have you been involved?

“Since 2021”

🌊 What do you do when you’re not volunteering with us?

I’m a school teacher, and an instructor for Salisbury Lifesaving Club — Stanswood Beach Rescue’s sister organisation”

“Pizza!”

Sunday Update 🌊

The warm weather and bank holiday weekend brought plenty of beachgoers to Calshot today, keeping the team on their toes in the sunshine ☀️

Our Rookie Beach Lifeguards returned for another brilliant training session — and were surprised by a visit from ! A fantastic chance for our young lifesavers to practice drills, ask questions, and learn alongside the lifeboat crew 🛟

Shoreline patrols continued throughout the day, with our beach lifeguards keeping a close eye on conditions and supporting everyone enjoying the coast 👣🌊

And for our current and trainee lifeguards, the learning never stops — from classroom sessions on tides and beach lifeguard theory to time out on the water honing their board skills 💪🏄

The team will see you tomorrow for Bank Holiday Monday — stay safe and enjoy the sunshine! 😎

“Alongside working full-time, I’m a Community First Responder with South Western Ambulance Service. I’m also an RLSS UK Pool Lifeguard and First Aid Trainer Assessor and Mentor, and I sit on my local Parish Council”

The team started the day with a visit to Calshot NCI 🔭

Back on the beach, we kicked off our first Rookie Beach Lifeguard session of the season 🛟

The crew continued with rescue watercraft training, while our lifeguards maintained patrols throughout the day to keep our beachgoers safe 🏖️

We wrapped up the afternoon with joint training alongside 🚤
