21 service personnels from 22 Signal Regiment (including 3 GSPS members) deployed on an Adventure Training expedition to Zion and Grand Canyon National Parks, USA, between 16–31 May 2026.

Led by SSgt Mimlal Thapa, the team operated as a fully self-sustained expedition, camping throughout their time at Pyramid Ridge Campground (Zion) and Tusayan-Montane Campground (Grand Canyon), supported by three Summer Mountain Leader instructors, a Combat Medical Technician, and a deployed military chef.

Key activities included Angel’s Landing (Scout Lookout), the Narrows River Trail (21km), Bright Angel Trail, South Rim routes, and a demanding South Kaibab Trail serial (22 km with 1,480m elevation change to the Colorado River and back), alongside structured Distributed Training.

The expedition concluded with redeployment from the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas on 29 May, before returning to the UK on 1 June 26 (following transit delays via San Francisco), arriving at Beacon Barracks. Across the training package, personnel developed resilience, navigation skills, and team cohesion in a challenging environment, with nine soldiers successfully achieving the Summer Mountain Foundation (SMF) qualification.

Col GSPS, SO2/Commander GSPS and all the members of the GSPS pariwar would like to congratulate SSgt Mimlal Thapa for leading a successful expedition.
