🎃 In conjunction with 6th Bramshill (Hawley) Cubs, we would like to invite you to our inaugural Halloween Trail 🎃

Running from Monday 26th October to Sunday 1st November the trail starts at The Coffee Shop on the Green, and costs 50p per participant (proceeds to the Poppy Appeal).

You will be given a map and a pencil, then you walk/scoot round in whatever order you like (and whenever - it can take all week if you walk slowly 😃) to find all of the marked locations, collect the letters at each to spell out a spooky phrase. Head back to the Coffee Shop to claim your treat 🍬

This is the first time we’ve tried anything like this, we hope you will support us and get involved. 👻

‼️IMPORTANT ‼️

Both of our fields at Hawley Leisure Centre (the roadside one with the play park on and the back field by the coffee shop) are being sprayed with weed killer tomorrow morning (Thursday 1st October) as the first step towards fixing the playing surface.

That will commence around 8am and will render both fields unusable for the day while the chemicals dry.

Please do not use the fields tomorrow.

Please find an alternative route if you walk your dogs across the fields, run or take the kids to school that way.

Back to normal on Friday!

The park is open for business!!

Apologies for the delay - the inspection took time to happen, then some fixing was required off the back of that - but we got there in the end!

There are some rules that we’d like you to follow to help the park stay Covid safe, so please have a read if you visit.

Fingers crossed for some sunshine now! ☀️

We've had a few enquiries asking why the park on Hawley Green is still closed now government guidance has changed.

As a council we had to be sure that it was safe to open the park, and that we could uphold our duty of care with whatever measures we could put in place to make the park as Covid secure as possible, so we had to do risk assessments and make sure our insurance company said it was OK, etc.

Having done all that, the HUGE issue we currently have is that our annual (legally required) RoSPA safety inspection was due to be carried out in June, but due to the Covid situation they didn't come and - as they have a big backlog of work - they will get to us as "soon as possible".

We can't open until that's done, so for now I'm afraid the park gates must remain closed 😞

Sensible advice....

We urge residents to not light bonfires - coronavirus can cause serious respiratory problems which could be made much worse if a sufferer is exposed to bonfire smoke. Compost garden waste where possible, and stack or bag up rubbish for disposal when the current emergency is over.

We are temporarily suspending our garden waste and bulky waste collections. Our waste management contractor Serco is facing increasing staffing pressures owing to COVID-19 and we have to protect our residents and our bin crews while doing all we can to deliver core waste, clinical and recycling collections in Hart. All garden waste customers will receive a letter announcing the suspension.
Crews will also aim to honour those bulky waste collections already booked but staffing is being monitored daily. Please visit our website for more information and update: www.hart.gov.uk

Waste collections currently running as normal but please note the additional requirements for certain types of waste.

Our waste and recycling collections are currently running as normal. To help protect our crews and stop the virus spreading we are asking people to follow these guidelines from Public Health England about how to dispose of their waste if they suspect they may have the virus.
This guidance states:
Personal waste (such as used tissues) and disposable cleaning cloths should be stored securely within disposable rubbish bags. These bags should be placed into another bag, tied securely and kept separate from other waste. This should be put aside for at least 72 hours before being put in your usual external household waste bin. Other household waste can be disposed of as normal.

20/03/2020

The state of our local park. Something to be proud of. It’s been a month since parks could reopen but still no signs of this one opening. Why can’t we be more like Surrey Heath Borough Council and upgrade all the parks in our area?
A letter to Hampshire County Council from Thames Water. South East Water and others should be the same. 31 March 2020 Dear Council Leader, I wrote to you last week to explain Thames Water’s response to COVID-19. This note is to provide an update on what we are doing to maintain safe, reliable water and wastewater services, while continuing to look after our staff and the wider community. The key points I want to make you aware of are: • To keep our staff safe and minimise transmission risk we have put in place strict social distancing measures. Staff are working from home wherever possible and we are supporting them to do so. • Our staff have been designated as ‘key workers’ to ensure we can continue to deliver our services as normally as possible during the current restrictions on movement. It is still absolutely necessary for some of our workers to be on-site to carry out essential activities, such as unblocking sewers and repairing burst water mains. • Some of our customers have been concerned to see our staff at work, and we have launched a social media and radio campaign to explain that this is happening only to ensure our customers continue to receive their normal services, and make clear that they are following government advice. • We know that many of our customers are facing financial difficulties, and have increased the support available for customers who may be struggling to pay their bill, with the introduction of a flexible payment period. • This new support is in addition to existing measures, which include our: ➢ Social tariff, which offers low-income households a discount of 50% on their bills ➢ Customer Assistance Fund, which offers grants to those with outstanding bills ➢ Trust Fund, which offers debt advice and grants for household appliances and other essentials. More information on the help we offer, and information on how to apply, is available at https://www.thameswater.co.uk/my-account/billing-and-payment/help-paying-your-bill. Finally, I am aware that a letter has recently been sent to the Prime Minister by some MPs asking for a ban on water company disconnections during the current period. Water companies do not have the powers to disconnect domestic customers from their water supply. We do not want such a power and would not use one if it existed. I hope you find this helpful. If you do have any questions about our response, please do get in touch.
