Today (Tuesday 16 June) we have announced our proposed location for a brand-new Frimley Park Hospital, marking an important step towards providing modern, safer hospital care for local people now and for generations to come.

The proposed location is part of the land currently occupied by Pine Ridge Golf Club, which is owned by local charity Frimley Fuel Allotments. The total size of the land owned by Frimley Fuel Allotments is approximately 265 acres. The Trust would acquire 55 acres (around one fifth) for a new hospital.

This follows an extensive site selection process involving eighteen sites within a five-mile radius of the existing Frimley Park site. Frimley Health has not purchased the land, and no final decisions have been made. An agreement is in place that allows further technical work and engagement to take place as plans progress further. Any decision to purchase the land will need approval from the Department of Health and Social Care through the standard business case approvals process.

This announcement allows us to carry out more detailed work to understand how the site could be developed responsibly, including careful assessment of traffic and transport, environmental impact, and how a new hospital would fit within the surrounding area. Public engagement and future formal consultation as part of the planning application will be an important part of this process.

We are also launching our new Engagement Document: Transforming health and care for our communities and inviting the public to feedback on proposals. We’re listening to feedback and want to ensure the best outcome for our communities. We want to make sure everyone has accurate information - more details are available via this link: https://www.fhft.nhs.uk/new-frimley-park-hospital, and we’ll keep updating as things progress.

We appreciate people feel strongly - we kindly ask that discussions remain respectful so everyone’s voice can be heard. We request that anyone interacting with our social media channels shows courtesy and kindness to each other and our staff: https://www.fhft.nhs.uk/about-us/our-social-media-position

Thank you to each and every person in our communities who donates their blood to help others, to aid research and to save lives 🅰️🅱️🆎🅾️

🩸

Every bag of blood has a story.

A donor who gave up time out of their busy day.

A patient who now feels stronger.

Thank you to every person who rolls up their sleeve. You're the reason lives go on.

It’s been a busy couple of months for the diabetes team. We’re currently in Diabetes Week, 8-14 June, a national campaign to ‘Strike Out Stigma’ while highlighting the emotional impact of the condition. Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Week was from 26 May – 1 June, Insulin Safety Week was 11-17 May, plus, the team held a transition evening for people getting ready to move from paediatric to adult diabetes services at the end of April.

Throughout Insulin Safety Week: our Diabetes Specialist Nurse (DSN) team delivered a trust‑wide, ward‑based campaign that turned everyday clinical areas into dynamic teaching spaces, focused on reducing insulin‑related harm and promoting safe use of diabetes technology. Centred on the “Think Diabetes Tech” message and the six rights of insulin – right person, right insulin, right dose, right time, right device and right way – the team used a mobile insulin‑safety trolley to reach wards, staff rooms and clinical hubs across Wexham Park and Frimley Park Hospitals, enabling nurses, doctors, AHPs and support staff to engage with learning without leaving their patients.

The campaign did more than raise awareness: it created high‑quality teaching opportunities, strengthened relationships between ward teams and the DSN service, and increased confidence in insulin and diabetes‑technology safety across the Trust.

At the end of April, the adult and paediatric diabetes teams held a successful transition evening, welcoming young people aged 15 to 18 who are preparing to move from paediatric to adult diabetes services. The event, designed to support one of the most significant milestones in a young person’s diabetes journey, provided a reassuring environment to help attendees build confidence, independence, and essential self‑management skills.

Transitioning to adult care can be a challenging period, coinciding with major life changes such as exams, further education, employment, and increasing personal responsibility. Recognising this, the Frimley teams created an evening that offered practical guidance, open discussion, and opportunities for young people to engage directly with healthcare professionals. Interactive stands covered key topics including foot care, insulin pump therapy, DAFNE (Dose Adjustment for Normal Eating) education, preparing for university, staying safe during physical activity, and making informed lifestyle choices. Guest speaker Deeya, a nursing student living with Type 1 diabetes, shared her lived experience and spoke one‑to‑one with attendees, providing relatable insight and reassurance.

Do you want to know how to support someone living with diabetes?

- Informational support can help someone understand glucose patterns and treatment decisions (often provided by health care professionals or trained professionals who can provide accurate information)

- Emotional support means listening with empathy and without judgment

- Practical support means making everyday changes that make self-management easier e.g. going for walks after your evening meal as a family or reducing the amount of snacks in the weekly shop

Across Frimley Health, people and teams make a difference every day, through compassion, teamwork, innovation and care that puts people first.

The STaR (Special Thanks and Recognition) Awards are how we recognise and celebrate those contributions

One of the most meaningful STaR awards is the Patient Choice award. This award is nominated only by patients or their families and honours individuals or teams who deliver exceptional, compassionate and truly patient centred care.

It recognises colleagues who:

- Listened and treated people with dignity and respect

- Went beyond what was expected
- Made a clear and positive difference to patient experience or outcomes

If someone made you, your family, or your loved one feel genuinely cared for, this is your opportunity to say thank you ✨

We are proud to support Carers Week 2026 (8-14 June), an important moment to recognise the vital contribution of unpaid carers in our workforce and communities.

Many colleagues balance their NHS roles alongside caring for family members, friends or loved ones. These responsibilities are often unseen but require extraordinary time, resilience and compassion.
We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where carers feel recognised, supported and able to thrive. A key step is the introduction of our Carers Passport, helping colleagues and managers have open, practical conversations about support needs. Alongside this, our Disability and Carers’ Network continues to champion flexible working, raise awareness and ensure carers’ voices shape what we do.

This week is both recognition and a call to action. Take time to learn more about the experiences of carers and how we can all offer support.

To every carer, thank you. Your dedication makes a profound difference every day.

Three months after first opening its doors to patients, the Slough Community Diagnostics Centre (CDC) is helping more than 300 patients a day (more than 2,000 patients a week) get quicker access to vital tests and diagnoses.

Since opening in March, the CDC has been open 8am - 8pm seven days a week, bringing care closer to home and reducing waiting times for those in the surrounding communities. On average 2,200 patients a week have been seen at the centre, either for diagnostic tests or to attend one of the specialist clinics.

Alex Pordage, CDC Operations Manager, Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust said: "We’ve made good progress in the first three months, supporting thousands of patients to get diagnosed more quickly. However, we still do have capacity at Slough CDC - particularly for blood tests and walk-in x-rays. The wait time is minimal for these services and there are often slots available on the same day as the GP referral. Patients can simply request Slough CDC to their GP when being referred, or in the case of blood test, choose it as an option when booking electronically.”

Services currently offered at Slough CDC include blood tests, CT, MRI, ultrasound, X ray, lung function tests and sleep apnoea tests. The centre also recently introduced a paediatric blood testing service for children and young people aged five and above and a second MRI machine has been up and running since the beginning June, expanding capacity to offer more MRI scanning for patients in the area.

At full capacity, Slough CDC will deliver up to 150,000 additional tests each year and is also exploring introducing other specialist cardiology and respiratory clinics to address the specific health care needs of the local communities.
