CSIA / NEXUS Wednesday 24th June Open as usual

CSIA and NEXUS will be open as usual on Wednesday 24th June. All arrangements for Preparation for Life remain the same - please see previous communications.

CSIA have received the following guidance from the County Council:
"We are advising that all education settings across Cornwall should remain open, wherever it is safe to do so, and continue to follow the latest national guidance and alerts.
School and transport services are expected to operate as normal."

In order to support students and make appropriate arrangements:

*Students are welcome to wear their PE Kit
*Students do NOT need to bring their blazer to school (remember to check you have your pencil case and timetable)
*Please remember to bring a water bottle - which you can refill in school
*We will continue to sell ice creams at lunch
*We will review classrooms and look to move lessons to cooler classrooms as much as possible
*We will review PE lessons, which may not take place outside, depending on the heat

We thank you for your support as we continue to make arrangements to support students through this incredibly sunny weather!

Thank you to everyone who took part in Week 1 of our Conversations That Count campaign.

We were delighted to receive feedback from 67 members of our school community and are incredibly grateful for the time you have taken to share your thoughts with us. Please be assured that we are reading and reflecting on all feedback received. If you indicated that you would be happy to be contacted, we are likely to be in touch towards the end of this week.

Your feedback plays an important role in helping us reflect, improve and strengthen the experiences we provide for all students and families. Working together in partnership helps us continue striving to provide the very best for our school community.

This week, we would like to focus on the statement:

πŸ’¬ My child is happy at this school

As always, we value your voice and encourage you to take a few moments to complete this week's form and continue being part of these important conversations. Please check your emails or Bromcom to access the survey.

🍽️🌱 This Thursday, our students will host a very special Community Feast, bringing together guests from across Cornwall to celebrate healthy, sustainable and locally sourced food.

Over recent months, students have grown produce in our polytunnels, worked with local suppliers, planned the menu and helped organise the event itself. The feast is about much more than food – it's about learning where food comes from, supporting local producers and empowering young people to create positive change in their community.

Read more about the project here:

Students at a Camborne school have spent months in the polytunnels, and now they want to feed the county with what they have learned. Camborne Science and International Academy (CSIA) is preparing to host a Community Feast that will bring together guests from across Cornwall to celebrate

**Weather Update**
We are open today as usual, including all clubs.

Students tomorrow do NOT need to bring in their blazers (but do remember, if you carry your pencil case, and/or your timetable in your pocket, put it into your school bag!). Students are also permitted to wear their PE kits on Wednesday and Thursday.

Please bring water with you and a water bottle so that you can refill it throughout the day.

*We are aware that some schools in Devon are announcing closures. We are NOT currently expecting to close, but we are monitoring the weather alerts closely and working with local authorities to ensure we do everything we can to support our students.

β˜€οΈ Another warm day at CSIA means a reminder that our usual hot-weather arrangements are in place.

When temperatures rise, we actively encourage students to not wear their blazers and stay as cool and comfortable as possible throughout the school day.

Students are reminded to keep sipping water regularly rather than waiting until they are thirsty. Water bottles can be refilled at break and lunchtime in either of our canteens or at the water coolers located around the school.

There are also plenty of shaded areas around the site to enjoy during breaks, and ice creams are available to purchase at lunchtime from the rear of the school.

With even warmer weather forecast this week, we're encouraging everyone to stay sun safe, stay hydrated and enjoy the sunshine responsibly.

And a reminder that students can wear their PE kit tomorrow and Thursday.

Have a lovely day in the sunshine! β˜€οΈ

πŸ¦β˜€οΈ Ice cream is back on the menu! β˜€οΈπŸ¦

With the warm weather sticking around, we'll be selling a selection of ice creams at lunchtime for just 50p each.

Students can bring cash, or pay by card for purchases of £1 or more. Stay cool, stay safe and enjoy the sunshine! 😎🌞🍦

Congratulations to all of the teams who completed their Bronze award in challenging conditions today - great to see them all pushing themselves in the last few hours. In a few days when the bruises and blisters have healed you will just be left with great memories and a huge sense of achievement - well done all 🎊🎊🎊

Over the last two weeks 12 staff and 7 student leaders have volunteered their time to support around 120 students taking on their Bronze expeditions. The staff support is crucial and these trips simply wouldn't happen without it - THANK YOU!!! πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

πŸ… Tomato SOS! πŸ…

We need a little community help...

Over the weekend, our tomatoes appear to have been picked and taken on an unexpected adventure before they could make it to our Community Feast this Thursday.

We're obviously disappointed. Months of planning, growing and caring for the crop have gone into this project. That said, if someone was genuinely in need of fresh food, we hope the tomatoes found their way to a good home.

In the meantime, we're on the lookout for a tomato hero! πŸ¦Έβ€β™‚οΈπŸ…

If you know of any local growers, allotment holders, suppliers or businesses who might be able to help us source a quantity of fresh tomatoes at short notice, we'd love to hear from you.

Please send us an email at [email protected] or tag someone who may be able to come to the rescue before Thursday's feast and please share this post!

Thank you, as always, for supporting our students and their ambitious community project β€οΈπŸ…

A huge congratulations to Lily, who helped West Cornwall Schools Under-12 Girls become District Champions on Friday evening! βš½πŸ†

West Cornwall secured a 1–0 victory over East Cornwall Schools in the district final, finishing the season in style. Lily played a key role in the team's success, helping them keep another clean sheet on their way to lifting the trophy.

What a fantastic achievement. Well done, Lily – we are incredibly proud of you! πŸ‘πŸ’™πŸ’›
