The Think Communities Vision is:

People. System

To build thriving, inclusive communities that take action. Communities that are proud of their local initiatives and invested in their future. Communities where people have the skills, resources, services, knowledge, and expertise they need to help themselves. Our vision is about building communities where people can help themselves and have easy access to appropriate services that meet their needs. To do this, we need to work together with local people, agencies and partners and combine our resources, skills, and local knowledge.

A wonderful project that we were delighted to support through our 'Enabler' fund.

Sometimes a resident or community group have a sense of the need they might want tackle where they live but might not know how to get started. Through the brilliant work by Love Mill Road people came together and discussed lots of ways they'd like to be involved, their passions, their ideas, and this was just one of them focusing on isolation and loneliness.

We're looking forward to visiting soon!

Have a conversation about water safety no matter how experienced or 'sensible' your family member or friend is. Lots of information can be found to support that conversation is on this CCC website page - https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/council/campaigns/be-water-smart

Summer is coming! ☀️

As the warmer weather approaches, we're launching a new campaign to support families to enjoy water safely.

A wonderful day spent in the underpass of Elizabeth Way roundabout in Cambridge at a Public Living Room. The community there wanted to show that the space could be used for more than just a thoroughfare - and they loved it! So many connections were made, neighbours meeting, faces being put to names in street whatsapp groups, various people stopping by and then lingering for deeper conversations. Free Little Libraries brought a trolley full of books. Residents provided breakfast rolls and tea. A young teenager stopped buy us some ice lollies on her way home after chatting in the morning. So much kindness. Already looking forward to the next one!

Follow Cambridge Camerados to find out when and where that will be!

Great to pop into the Underpass on St Elizabeth's Way today to see our colleague Clair from Communities Service Cambridge City and Bregs for their Public Living Room, a chance for a friendly chat and to enjoy the sun! Go along before 6 and say hi!

The heat health alert for the East of England has been upgraded to amber from 2pm today (22 May) until 5pm on 28 May, with temperatures set to soar over the next few days.

While we hope people enjoy the warm weather, please remember to do so safely and look out for others who may be at a higher risk of becoming unwell.

If you have to go outside, try to keep out of the sun between 11am and 3pm when it’s at its hottest, walk in the shade, apply sunscreen regularly, wear a hat and light clothes, and drink plenty of water.

Staying indoors? Keep your home cool by closing windows and curtains in rooms that face the sun. ☀️

THIS FRIDAY!

Come along to The Underpass (the roundabout at the end of Elizabeth Way bridge) and spend some time in a Public Living Room.

It's all day so pop along before or after work or any time in the day. It's set to be a warm one so there may or not be a cuppa, but there will certainly be some robust biscuits.

Come along. Be a Camerado.
