EoE Neonatal Network

EoE Neonatal Network Welcome to the parents' page for the East of England Neonatal Network. This page is managed by the EOE Neonatal ODN.

Permanently closed.

Welcome to the East of England Neonatal Network parent page. We will update this page with items of interest to the neonatal community and would like to encourage parents who have received care in our network to share their thoughts and stories. These will provide support to families currently on the neonatal units across the East of England. This page is monitored and run by the EOE Neonatal ODN

team who work with/for the 17 neonatal units in the region. It is intended that this page will be a positive and helpful space and we reserve the right to withhold posts that do not share these values. Should you have any issues that you need to raise, this should be done directly with the trust involved. To ensure confidentiality for all patients, families and staff it is important that the names of specific units or staff are not posted. For this reason we will anonyomise any post including names etc. Sharing thoughts and stories of your neonatal journey is extremely personal but will help and support those families going through this experience so we would like to say a big thank you to you for your support. Feedback to us the ODN will also allow us to continue to shape and improve the services offered and delivered across the East of England.

The UK Neonatal Nurses Association is concerned and saddened by the reports & images showing the effect of the current conflict in Ukraine on the ability of neonatal nurses to care for sick/preterm infants and their families. Our thoughts are with those dedicated Ukrainian teams at this very challenging time. On behalf of the neonatal nursing workforce in the UK, we are sending a message of solidarity to our neonatal colleagues in Ukraine. As a global member of the international neonatal nursing community, we also align with the Council of International Neonatal Nurses (COINN) and its position. We and COINN stand with our colleagues in Ukraine and advocate for peace. It is heart-breaking to see our colleagues manually ventilating babies in underground bunkers, to see children with terror in their eyes and to see the senseless conflict between brotherly countries. As the many citizens of Ukraine and Russia and the rest of the civilised world, the NNA & COINN are advocating for a peaceful resolution of the crisis.

Did your baby experience a preterm birth brain injury? Researchers from UCL are working on an exciting project to find out more about the long-term health and educational outcomes for babies who experience brain injury - and they want your help to shape the study.

The CHERub study is running a workshop for parents to make sure the questions which are most important and meaningful to families are going to be answered. To find out more, please email Pippa at [email protected]

Almost half of the neonatal units that responded to our survey were unable to allow parents to remove PPE even when they held their baby, parents have told us about their concerns about the impact on them and their baby, including bonding, development, and breastfeeding. Read about this in our report https://buff.ly/3c8QtCA

At 9pm tonight a new series called Baby Surgeons: Delivering Miracles starts on Channel 4. It features complex pregnancies and images from neonatal care. This might bring up painful memories if you have had a neonatal experience, or are currently on the unit.

We're here for you 💙
