✍️ Do you need a writing degree?
The honest answer? Not necessarily... Great writers have existed long before creative writing degrees.

But if you're serious about becoming a writer, the real question is... How do you give yourself the best chance of succeeding?

Senior Lecturer in Writing, Jon Stone, shares the skills every writer needs – from building strong writing habits and finding your unique voice, to receiving honest feedback, mastering your craft, understanding the publishing world and having the confidence to put your work out there.

These are all things you'll develop on our Writing degrees, alongside a community of fellow writers and tutors who'll challenge, support and inspire you every step of the way.

Because studying Writing isn't about ticking a box. It's about giving yourself the time, space, knowledge and network to become the best writer you can be.

Ready to take the next step? It’s not too late to apply for September, just apply via the Clearing here: https://www.aru.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/clearing

ARU and Essex County Council have signed a new five‑year agreement to expand Nourishing Our Future, the award‑winning programme helping early years providers across Essex support healthier eating for young children.

The programme already delivers training, the NOF Award and an annual conference, and has gained national recognition for its impact. With this new agreement, the partnership will expand its research activity and continue contributing to national conversations around children’s food and nutrition.

A great step forward for the teams involved, for early years providers and families across Essex.
