Jack* is self-employed, has been in recovery for 14 years, and he has just moved into a new home through HomeLink.
It hasn't been a straight road to get there. Jack experienced homelessness once before, alongside substance use, and has been part of the Narcotics Anonymous community ever since. A relationship breakdown a few years ago left him homeless again, and he moved into one of our move-on houses to start rebuilding.
As a self-employed worker, irregular income soon meant serious rent arrears. Jack worked with his Cambridge Cyrenians support worker to agree a repayment plan and cleared the arrears within a few months. From there, he kept bidding for accommodation through HomeLink and, after some persistence, has now moved into a home of his own for the next stage of his life.
"As support workers go, she's number one, she's the tops," Jack says. "I liked our chats and she was easy to get on with. I'm very thankful for my support from Cambridge Cyrenians."
