Waterbeach Library

The Cambridgeshire mobile library is going to start visiting Waterbeach on the 3rd Monday of each month, starting on 20 April.
They will park near The Green from 9.30 to 10.45.
As well as a great selection of books they offer the following services:
- return books from any library (including any Waterbeach stock)
- borrow books for 5 weeks
- reserve books to collect from the mobile library
- If you have an NHS hearing aid, you can pick up hearing aid batteries
- If you use a walking aid, they can change your ferrules* free of charge (*the little rubber stopper on the end of your stick)
- If you or someone you know are struggling with increasing food costs, you can collect a FREE Dinnerize kit. They contain everything you need to make a family meal and have been donated by the Re-Imagine resource centre
- Thanks to the National Databank they are able to issue free SIM cards to anyone over the age of 18 who is on a low income.

A very sad day today as the Library's books and furniture were removed to be stored by Selected Removals and Storage. Well done to all the volunteers and library users who packed last weekend - here's a look at the dismantled library :( we are still hopeful that a temporary solution will be found and will let you know when we can... video by Toby Tyler

Thanks to everyone who has come into the library in the past weeks to thank the volunteers. It was lovely to see how much the library has meant to the community. We will all miss you, and working in the library, very much. We will keep in touch about the possibility of a temporary location, but due to data protection rules we are unable to email all users. We now have some more detailed information about arrangements for library users.
- If you have books on loan from us, you can return them to another Cambridgeshire library, and late fines will not be due on those loans (please note waived fines only apply to books owned by Waterbeach Library and not to books reserved from other libraries through us)
- if you have been notified of reservations to collect, please do so by 21 February. After that, any existing reservations made through us will go to Histon Library, *but you can change the pickup point* by editing the reservation online at https://cambridgeshire.spydus.co.uk/cgi-bin/spydus.exe/MSGTRN/WPAC/HOME

WATERBEACH INDEPENDENT LENDING LIBRARY CLOSURE
The library volunteers are sorry to announce that it has been confirmed that the library building will be demolished and the Parish Council has been served formal notice to vacate. At this point in time, no available alternative location has been identified.
This means the library will close to the public on SATURDAY 21 FEBRUARY.
It would be appreciated if books on loan could be returned by that date.
We hope to be able to restart the service in a temporary location as soon as possible.
In the meantime, you can use your library card in any other library in Cambridgeshire and in the mobile libraries. Your nearest alternatives are HISTON, BARNWELL ROAD, CAMBRIDGE and MILTON ROAD, CAMBRIDGE. (edit: Please note that COTTENHAM library will be closed for refurbishment for about five weeks starting on 23 February.)
The library volunteers would like to thank all members for their support over the last 20+ years as a community-managed library and will continue to press for a new permanent home for the library in Waterbeach Village.
