For the second year running, Cambridgeshire Masonic Bowls Association was delighted to be invited to take part in the Whittlesey Lions Annual Charity Day, held at Whittlesey Town Bowls Club.

The day brought together local bowling teams for a friendly round-robin competition, with the added benefit of raising money for the Whittlesey Lions’ chosen charity, Blood Bikes, a cause that has received generous support from Cambridgeshire Freemasons over the past year.

A fantastic £500 was raised on the day for Blood Bikes. One of the photographs shows Lions President Cheryl Haynesastride one of the Blood Bikes that attended the event, with the photographs kindly taken by Radio Fenland.

The afternoon concluded with a convivial meal at the New Crown Public House in Whittlesey A fitting end to an enjoyable day of sport, friendship and community support.

Cambridgeshire Masonic Bowls Association has been bowling against local teams throughout Cambridgeshire and beyond for many years, providing a great opportunity to enjoy the sport while bringing Freemasonry into the wider community.

🏏 A great afternoon of cricket with Caldwell Lodge No.3201

Members of Caldwell Lodge sponsored MARCH TOWN CRICKET CLUB game against Stamford Cricket Club on Saturday, and it turned out to be a very successful afternoon for the home side!

Lodge Secretary W..Bro. Les Mills took on umpiring duties, while March 1st XI went on to secure an impressive 138-run victory. Even better, the winning side included Les’s two sons, Andrew and Stuart.

With temperatures soaring, thankfully the bar was open, and afternoon tea was served between innings — making for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon both on and off the pitch.

Caldwell Lodge enjoys a great evening of food and friendship 🍛🍺

Eighteen members of Caldwell Lodge, together with a potential candidate, recently enjoyed a midweek curry at the Gurkha Spice Indian Restaurant in March.

There was plenty of good food, a few cold beers, and, most importantly, excellent company. Evenings like these are a great reminder that Freemasonry is about friendship as much as it is about meetings.

🔹 A Fantastic Evening for Cambridgeshire Light Blues at Logistica Lodge No. 9804 🔹

A memorable quadruple Initiation recently took place at Logistica Lodge No.9804 at Newmarket Masonic Hall, with an outstanding 86 Brethren in attendance from across Cambridgeshire and our neighbouring Provinces.

The evening showcased exactly what our Light Blues are all about – enthusiasm, teamwork and supporting the future of Freemasonry. All of the key offices for the ceremony were filled by Light Blues, demonstrating the confidence and ability of our newest members, with W.Bro. Tom French delivering the Ceremony with confidence and precision.

The occasion was made even more special by the attendance of Assistant Provincial Grand Master W.Bro. Ed Williams, together with a surprise visit from the Provincial Grand Master R.W.Bro. Mark Shields.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making the evening such a memorable success. It was a fantastic example of the friendship, commitment and enthusiasm of our newest members, and a reminder that the future of Freemasonry in Cambridgeshire is in very good hands.

A memorable evening at Gray Lodge No.4334 as V.W.Bro. David Blair, Past Deputy Provincial Grand Master, made a special visit to the Lodge.

The occasion was made even more significant by the attendance of R.W. Bro. Mark Shields, Provincial Grand Master, who presented V.W. Bro. Blair with his Past Deputy Grand Master's collarette.

In his remarks, the Provincial Grand Master highlighted David's instrumental role in the formation of the Clarets and his dedication as Chairman of the Provincial Care and Relief Charity, where his enthusiasm, commitment and leadership helped drive many successful charitable initiatives.

V.W. Bro. Blair expressed his sincere thanks for the presentation and reflected with pride on his years of service to the Province, acknowledging the support and friendship he had received while contributing to Freemasonry across Cambridgeshire.

🚑 Saving lives through community engagement ❤️

Today, Tony Barrios, a volunteer CPR and defibrillator awareness trainer with the @ East Anglian Air Ambulance Charity, was officially signed off as a trainer by Joshua Lawrence, Community Training Programme Manager, following delivery of a one-hour CPR and defibrillator awareness session at The Meadows Day Centre Nursery and Pre-School, Chatteris.

In just three sessions, Tony has now trained over 70 people in these invaluable life-saving skills, giving more members of the community the confidence to act in the event of a cardiac arrest.

Tony's motivation for becoming a volunteer trainer is deeply personal. Last year, his 38-year-old son suffered a cardiac arrest whilst playing football. Thanks to the prompt actions of bystanders who immediately began CPR, his son survived and is now fit and well. Wanting to give something back, Tony now volunteers his time to help others learn these skills that really can save lives.

As a Cambridgeshire Freemason, Tony's work reflects the United Grand Lodge of England's commitment to supporting and engaging with our local communities.

Tony would like to thank the East Anglian Air Ambulance for the excellent training, guidance and ongoing support that has enabled him to become a volunteer trainer.
