Anglia Ruskin University UNISON Branch Trade Union for professional staff at Anglia Ruskin University UNISON is Britain and Europe's biggest public sector union with more than 1.4 million members.

Our members are people working in the public services, for private contractors providing public services and in the essential utilities. They include frontline staff and managers working full or part time in local authorities, the NHS, the police service, colleges and schools, the electricity, gas and water industries, transport and the voluntary sector. Last year UNISON recruited 137,000 new members - 375 per day.

Support staff keep Universities running; it is time we are fairly paid!
Following national negotiations, UCEA made a final 2% pay offer for 2026/27.

UNISON’s Higher Education Service Group Executive strongly recommended rejecting the offer, which falls far short of what members need during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

UNISON, EIS (Scotland) and Unite have now formally rejected the pay element.

International Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember the dead. Fight for the living.

Today we remember all those who lost their lives, or were injured, simply doing their jobs and we recommit to fighting for every worker’s right to be safe at work.

From the Covid inquiry hearings highlighting the risks faced by frontline workers, to the ongoing danger of asbestos in schools, hospitals and public buildings, the need for strong protections – and strong unions – remains as urgent as ever.

At 11am, we will join others across the country in a minute’s silence to remember the dead and stand up for the living.
