We were contacted by a man in Cambridge recently who was worried about the new man in his ex-girlfriend’s life who had access to his children.

He knew a little about Sarah’s Law, but we explained the disclosure scheme to him in more detail and he made an application.

He said his children were quiet when asked about the new partner, and he just wanted to do all he could to make sure they were safe 🏠 His application, which is in progress, was one of 25 we received last month.

Key facts about Sarah’s Law:

💡 It was introduced after pa******le Roy Whiting abducted, s*xually assaulted and murdered eight-year-old schoolgirl Sarah Payne 25 years ago. She was taken less than five miles from the s*x offender's home

💡 It allows anyone (not just parents) to apply for disclosure information on behalf of a child to find out if an adult, who has access to that child, poses a risk to them

Please spread the word. Find out more on our dedicated web page: https://orlo.uk/Sarahs-Law_EaEOw

WE NEED YOUR HELP

We are currently looking after three people who, without our support, would have no other option but returning to the streets.
One of our partners, a local church, have provided us with a property and we’ve had incredible support from the community to furnish it with everything needed to make it feel like home.

Our Survive and Thrive staff continue to provide support with deliveries of food, other essentials and regular welfare visits.

However, It Takes A City are a small charity with limited funds. We know you’ll appreciate the costs involved in providing utilities and other expenses. If you can offer any financial assistance, whether a one-off donation or regular contribution, please contact [email protected] or donate through our website https://www.ittakesacity.org.uk/support-us/

Did you know that pressing 55 after calling 999 alerts police officers that you need help but are in a situation where you can't talk? 🤔 📱

Pressing 55 lets the 999 operator know your call is genuine, and they will try and track your location.

If you can't speak, listen carefully to the instructions from our call-takers, so they can arrange help.

Christmas 'UP THE IMPACT' Tech Drive Campaign TM

Your tech this Christmas can make a big impact on digital inclusion!

Yes, we are using the ‘C’ word! Christmas is a time for giving and we can all give in different ways. Our Christmas ‘UP THE IMPACT’ Campaign is focused on increasing the amount of tech that is given to us by businesses in the run up to Christmas, which in turn increases the amount of tech we can give to charities.

Another ‘C’ word we can use is ‘Circular’. Our business functions as a circular economy, we take or buy excess tech, it's securely data-erased and refurbished and then either donated to charities and NFPs to increase digital inclusion or sold to eco-conscious individuals, and businesses. Any monies from tech purchased by us can be used by companies either to donate to charitable causes that the company supports or to support any future IT refresh.

WE NEED YOUR TECH!

You can repurpose:
• Laptops
• Tablets
• Desktop PCs
• Monitors
• Servers & Networking
• Mobile Phones

UP THE IMPACT AND REPURPOSE YOUR TECH NOW!

Whether you have gifted or sold tech to us before or you have never worked with us, get onboard today, give us your tech and really ‘Up The Impact’ this Christmas.
