Cambridgeshire Community Foundation

Cambridgeshire Community Foundation We identify the needs of our community,
raise funds and award grants to local charitable causes.

Cambridgeshire Community Foundation helps donors (including local people, families, companies, national and local government, and other charities) to learn about and support local charitable causes that are of interest to them. We enable donations both big and small to reach local charities and good causes that are working to improve the quality of life for local people. We are working to help add

ress both needs that exist in our local communities today, and the needs of tomorrow through building endowed funds that create a sustainable source of grant making into the future

By building our understanding of needs, the support and trust of donors and voluntary and community groups, and ensuring the impact of our work is communicated, we aim to develop our role as a community catalyst and convener. We are therefore a type of charitable trust working in Cambridgeshire as a grant-maker, endowment builder and community leader.

We're hiring! 🌟

We're looking for a Grants Officer to join our team on a 1-year maternity cover contract - a core role in how we work alongside communities across Cambridgeshire.

As Grants Officer, you'll be at the heart of our grant-making work: supporting community groups and charities to access funding, assessing applications, and helping us deliver a grant-making programme that supports communities right across the county.

We're a lively, ambitious team and we'd love to hear from anyone who brings curiosity, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to community.

This , we're celebrating the incredible people who give so much to support others - and the brilliant organisations making sure carers are looked after too.

Here are just some of the projects we're proud to have supported:

🌱 Project Abundance - bringing the healing power of horticulture to dementia patients and their caregivers at the Alzheimer's Society Hub in Peterborough, with a wellbeing event and 10 weekly support sessions

🚣 Grafham Water - subsidising day visits and residential trips for 50 dementia carers, with outdoor activities and full board catering

🎬 Viva Arts and Community Group - running monthly 'silver cinema' screenings for people with dementia and their carers, reaching up to 75 people across 10 events

Because carers deserve care too. πŸ’™

It's Volunteers' Week and we want to shout out to everyone across Cambridgeshire who gives their time to make this county a better place πŸŽ‰

That includes our own amazing volunteers - the volunteer visitors who help keep us close and up-to-date with the groups we award grants to, the trustees who guide our work, and the ambassadors who champion our mission across the county. You are brilliant and we couldn't do what we do without you 🫢

And it includes the thousands of volunteers powering organisations right across the county. There are so many we could mention, but here are three that show just some of the incredible work that's going on:

Abbey in Cambridge - running food hubs, youth clubs, green spaces and so much more for residents of Cambridge's Abbey Ward, almost entirely thanks to their wonderful community of volunteers.

The Butterfly Effect Project (by Head to Toe Charity) - where volunteers provide one-to-one companionship and support to end of life patients, offering comfort to those with few visitors, respite for families and friends, and vital support for community nurses and hospital staff.

Little Miracles Charity - a parent-led charity offering support, activities and a safe space for families with children with disabilities and additional needs. Built by people who know exactly what those families need.

These are just three of the many, many organisations across Cambridgeshire that just couldn't do the work they do without volunteers.

πŸ‘πŸ‘If you volunteer, thank you - you are helping to build a better county.

What an incredible day! A couple of weeks ago we joined Peterborough Council for Voluntary Service for their Learning & Skills programme celebrations at the Allia Business Centre in Peterborough - and we're still feeling inspired.

This programme exists for a really important reason: sometimes the people who need support the most don't feel confident or welcome in formal learning environments. But they might pop along to their local charity hub, try something new, build some confidence - and that first small step can change everything.

Funded by the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority using Adult Skills funding from central government, this round supported 13 projects - helping people improve their confidence, reduce social isolation, boost their mental health, and take positive steps towards employment or volunteering.

At the celebration, we had the privilege of hearing directly from participants about what the programme has meant to them. One person supported by The Woman You Are shared this:

"Before joining the programme, I felt stuck, overwhelmed, and unsure about my future. I didn't believe I could succeed. Through the support, training, and encouragement I received, I completed my course, built my confidence, and secured a new job. For the first time in a long while, I feel hopeful and motivated about my future and what I can achieve."

That says it all, really πŸ’›

We're so proud to have played a part in this work, alongside the Combined Authority and all the brilliant teams who poured their hearts into these programmes. The day was a reminder of what's possible when communities, organisations and funders come together.

Thank you to everyone involved πŸ‘

It's our lottery's birthday week! πŸŽ‰

Cambridgeshire Community Lottery turns 1 tomorrow - and what better way to mark it than with some of the brilliant causes that have made the last twelve months so special.

We asked some of our lottery's causes to help us celebrate - (l-r) Something To Look Forward To, 3 Pillars Feeding The Homeless & Supporting the Community, Papworth Trust, Disability Huntingdonshire (DISH), St John the Baptist, Church End, Parson Drove, our very own CEO representing the Fund for Cambridgeshire (managed by our Foundation) and Ramsey Neighbourhoods Trust.

Β£20,000 - that's how much the lottery has raised for causes across Cambridgeshire in just its first year.

There's more to come to celebrate the lottery's first birthday... Keep an eye out for a special competition launching tomorrow πŸ‘€
