Apologies for the lack of posts recently - been using up leave...Anyone who has been to the airfield in the last 3-4 mon...

Apologies for the lack of posts recently - been using up leave...
Anyone who has been to the airfield in the last 3-4 months, can't fail to have noticed the works going on next to the control tower, the front elevation sketch below shows the fire appliance bays that are being constructed - this will:
- Free up space in Hangar 3, which has a new exhibition going in
- More importantly, ensure that the vehicles are undercover, but available instantly for use, all year round.
The building will also house, BA servicing facilities, as well as washing and shower facilities, so that we can decontaminate our kit, and ourselves after hot fire training, or an incident.

The curved roof is a nod to the appliance sheds that were in almost the same spot during the USAAF and RAF days (will put up some pictures to show these)

Hopefully should all be finished by late July / early August
