After nearly two years of the Cannock Chase Green Party pushing, arguing, questioning and holding the council to account we have finally had a glimmer of light for the Prince of Wales.

It will take cross party action to save it and we promise, as we have for the last 21 months, to keep working hard for our theatre to be saved. We fully expect the other parties to take credit for this but remember two things: we are not yet out of the woods - there is still lots of work to do and; remember it was your Green Party councillors who have lobbied ceaslessly on this so we extend a big thanks to Councillor Darrell Mawle , Councillor Andrea Muckley and Councillor Jo Elson for their dedication to both our wonderful district and to the preservation of performing arts within Cannock Chase 💚💚💚

The Prince of Wales Theatre in Cannock, which was earmarked for demolition, could now be saved.

Senior councillors in Cannock Chase will be discussing an option to carry out a multi-million-pound refurbishment on the theatre which has been closed since April last year.

Councillors will discuss a report on Thursday (20 August) which sets out two options – one of which will be to retain and refurbish the Prince of Wales Theatre.

The other option is to continue with the ‘Development Framework’ – which is the blueprint for the future of the town centre.

Disposable barbecues are a needless environmental hazard. They increase wildfire risk during dry weather, generate unnecessary single-use waste, and damage the places we all love. It’s time for a ban.
