A new name but the same celebration of the Stour

One of the district's top environmental festivals returns later this month with a new organisation at the helm and a new name - Stour Valley Riverfest.

The festival runs from Sunday 20 to Sunday 27 September and is now organised by the Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership, but it still has the same key aim at its heart: a celebration of all things River Stour.

From the annual Rotary Club Duck Race and river cleans, to walks, talks and family activities, expect a week of events aimed at celebrating the Stour's historical, cultural and environmental importance to the district.

Kent County Council are hosting a free Mature Drivers & Passenger Course at Chartham Village Hall on Friday 16th October. A helpful refresher for drivers over 55 - see the poster for full details.

We’re looking forward to the Teddy Bears’ Picnic at No Man’s Orchard on Sunday 4th October, from 12pm – 3pm. Free games, a teddy zip wire and plenty for families to enjoy.

We’re sorry to say that a number of items around the Memorial Field and Village Hall have been damaged in recent days. A wooden bench inside the play area has been broken, and a bin has been removed and appears to have been thrown into the river.

These incidents have been reported to the Police. If you witness any vandalism or antisocial behaviour, please do report it to the Police so it can be properly recorded.
