Cherry season is upon us! 🍒

We cherry-ish this wonderful fruit very much. Hence why we have a great selection of cherry based food and drink at the Abbey.

(Other flavours are also available 😁)

Next time you visit the Abbey, try some of our free wine and mead tasters.
Thank you cherry much!

It is The Great Big Green Week! 🐝🐞🌳

As a Local Wildlife Site (LWS) St Augustines Abbey is supporting The Great Big Green Week, 6th to 14th June. The Climate Coalition have organised The Big Green Week to engage communities to tackle climate change and restore nature.

The theme of this week is Together for Good. By working together we can make real and practical changes for the better. At the Abbey we support a diverse range of nature and are always developing these strategies to secure continuous environmental action.

Have a look at The Great Big Green Week website and find some inspiration of how you can help our environment 🌿🍄

As a Member of English Heritage, you could visit St Augustines Abbey, Richborough Roman Fort, Deal Castle and Walmer Castle & Gardens over the course of two days.... and all for free entry! 😃

Now instead of two days, just think where you could visit over the course of a year?! 🧐

Pop into the Abbey where we can sign you up for Membership, and the icing on the cake is that you can get 15 months for the price of 12 with an Annual Direct Debit! 🎉

Ever feel like a certain museum scene is playing in your head when you see people get a little too close to history? 😅

When visiting our sites, we kindly ask all visitors not to climb on the ruins or touch the collections unless it says to do so. These places and objects have survived for centuries, and your care helps ensure they survive for many more.

Every step kept off the ruins and every object left untouched helps us preserve our shared history for future generations.

That iconic Night at the Museum moment might pop into your head if someone ignores the rules… but jokes aside, we’d much rather keep our history safe than see it damaged. 😉

Help us look after our history. Observe, enjoy, and protect. 💙

Throughout the English Heritage Trust we hold sustainability, caring for the natural environment and climate change close to our hearts.

We care for our historic outdoor spaces by balancing the preservation of historical buildings with the needs of important species of plants, mammals and invertebrates. We’ve reintroduced species in some places and carefully monitor the conditions at our sites to ensure that vital habitats can thrive.

At the Abbey you will see Swifts flying over head, bees and butterflies within our meadow, a bat box hidden amongst our trees and a variety of pond life and insects 🦇🐛🦔🐦‍⬛
