For two days only... "Canterbury and the early Normans"

Visit the Reading Room at our Archives Dept on 8 & 9 September (11am to 3pm) for a special interactive experience relating to the Bayeux Tapestry and exploring Canterbury and the early Normans.

Highlights include a reconstruction of Canterbury's Norman Castle, hands-on models, Norman and Gothic arch-building activities, historical maps, and a replica section of the Bayeux Tapestry.

Plus we have a selection of costumes for selfies!

Free with a valid Cathedral Admission Ticket, Cathedral Pass or Friends' Card. Kids go FREE every day.*

Looking down from the top of the Christ Church Gate it’s easy for your mind to drift and imagine what scenes would’ve greeted you over the past 500 years since the gate was built.

Not many people get to visit the top of the Grade I-listed main entrance to the Cathedral so we thought we’d share.

Happy International Dog Day! 🐕

From carved stone to stained glass, dogs have been part of Canterbury Cathedral’s story for centuries.

We’ve found a few of our favourites, but there are plenty more waiting to be discovered. Better still, you can bring your own well-behaved four-legged friend to help with the search, as dogs are welcome in the Cathedral and grounds. 🐾🐕‍

This week we’re at The Deanery Garden - plus we have our plant sale too along with tea and cake!

Our gardeners will be on hand throughout the day to share their expertise, offer tips, and answer any questions you may have about the plants 🌷 and heritage of the garden.
