One of our recent highlights was helping to develop a £7.8m bid to transform how weight management services are delivered in Wales.

We brought together all seven Welsh health boards and supported Public Health Wales to develop a successful bid for the UK’s Obesity Pathway Innovation Programme.

The project will replace Wales’ fragmented weight management service with a digitally enabled, community-led national pathway.

Could virtual reality change the way we train the social care workforce?

Traditional training methods don't always give staff the opportunity to put learning into practice before they face real-life situations. That's where virtual reality can make a difference.

Our latest case study explores how immersive training is helping care staff develop skills, build confidence and learn in a more engaging way. By creating realistic scenarios in a safe environment, staff can learn and practise at the same time, supporting better outcomes for the people they care for.

Watch our new video to hear from the people behind the project and those experiencing the training first-hand. 👇🎥

We’re pleased to share our Year in Review 2025-26, highlighting how people and organisations across Wales have worked together to improve our health and social care systems.

At Life Sciences Hub Wales, we bring together the NHS, industry and universities to help new ideas grow and reach the people who need them. This year’s review shows how that teamwork is helping patients get care more quickly, supporting companies to develop new solutions, and helping health and social care teams use new technologies with confidence.

Putting Patient Voices at the Heart of Innovation ❤️

In our latest guest blog, Demi Melnyk from CanSense shares how the team is advancing the early detection of gynaecological cancers by co-designing diagnostic tools with the people they’re meant to serve.

With seed funding from the Innovation in Women’s Cancer Accelerator Fund, they're developing a novel liquid biopsy blood test for ovarian and endometrial cancers, backed by a public and patient involvement project.
