💨🧱 Breathing new life into brownfield land🍃
🏗️ Today, Welsh Government Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government, Jayne Bryant and Cllr Brent Carter, Leader Merthyr Council, CCR Co-Portfolio Lead, Northern Valleys along with Matthew Davies Managing Director -Davies Homes Homes and Jacob Thompson, Property Programme Manager, Cardiff Capital Region, visited the Dol-y-Ddraig housing development in Merthyr Tydfil, one of the most advanced projects supported by the Cardiff Capital Region Housing Viability Gap Fund.
🔷The £35m Fund, which the Welsh Government has supported with £15 million of funding overall, enables the development to transform a long-derelict part of the former Hoover site into a vibrant mixed-tenure community of 200 homes. It’s a powerful example of how targeted regional investment can unlock stalled sites, create jobs and deliver much-needed housing.
🏡⚽Across South East Wales, the Housing Viability Gap Fund is helping to regenerate brownfield land equivalent to 132 football pitches, delivering 2,500 homes and supporting 3,000+ jobs.
🔷 Great to see the progress being made at Dol-y-Ddraig and the collaboration between partners turning vision into reality.
