Three-year-old Clover had a very important visit to Barry Hospital this week - getting her hepatitis A vaccine.

Luckily, there were a few familiar faces to make the experience a little more fun! Clover got to meet Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, while Bluey was playing in the background.

Children aged 1 to 5 who live in Barry, or attend a childcare or education setting in Barry, can get a free hepatitis A vaccination without booking an appointment.

Simply turn up at Barry Hospital (CF62 8YH). Clinics are open from 9am to 5pm on weekdays and Saturdays until Saturday, September 5.

The vaccination programme has been introduced as part of our response to the ongoing hepatitis A outbreak in Barry.

The illicit drug market is changing rapidly.

The WEDINOS Annual Report 2025/26 found that 36.6% of samples tested did not contain the substance people thought they had purchased. The report also identified emerging synthetic opioids, counterfeit medicines and synthetic cannabinoids (a drug commonly known as ‘Spice’) in v**e products.

📣UPDATE: Hepatitis A vaccination in Barry

From today (Friday 21 August), children aged 1 to 5 who live in Barry, or attend a childcare or education setting in Barry, can now receive a free hepatitis A vaccination without an appointment.

Walk-in clinic available at:

🕘9am to 5pm, weekdays and Saturdays
📅 Until 5 September

Thank you to the hundreds of parents and carers who have already brought their children forward for vaccination.

If your child is eligible and has not yet been vaccinated, please come along. Vaccination helps protect children and reduce the spread of hepatitis A in the community
