Recovering an armoured vehicle one minute, lock wiring an Apache the next.

In May, nine of our OCdts took on Ex Mechanical Endeavour 26, the annual military skills competition run by the REME that puts UOTCs head to head on trade skills and knowledge under pressure.

Ex DRAGON CYCLONE 26. Officer Cadets from Wales UOTC deployed to Sennybridge in support of 203 (Welsh) MMR, acting as casualty simulation augmentees across a demanding field exercise.

The task: generate a relentless stream of realistic casualties to stress test the regiment’s new Deployed Hospital Care capability and incoming equipment, replicating the friction and intensity of the Contemporary Operating Environment.

The reward: a genuine insight into the medical evacuation chain, from point of wounding through to advanced treatment, reinforcing our own Battlefield Casualty Drills and TCCC and sharpening tactical awareness alongside the professionals of the Royal Army Medical Services.

Supporting wider Army outputs. Developing future leaders.

Providing high-quality, safe physical training is an important part of developing resilient and capable Officer Cadets.

To help achieve this, members of Wales UOTC regularly undertake specialist military training to continually develop their own skills and knowledge. The recent Army Reserve PTI Basic Course combined two weeks of classroom learning, practical instruction, and continuous assessment, with candidates required to demonstrate both their theoretical understanding and their ability to plan and deliver effective physical training sessions.

The qualification enhances our ability to deliver progressive physical training, conduct safe physical testing, and support Officer Cadets as they develop the fitness, confidence, and resilience required throughout their time at Wales UOTC.

By continually investing in the development of our people, we can ensure our Officer Cadets benefit from professional, evidence-based coaching both in barracks and during field training.

ADX | Day 9 ☀️

Day 9 of ADX 2026 brought a change of pace as our OCdts took part in a condensed version of the Cambrian Patrol Exercise. 🧭🌿

Following an intense field phase, the day was designed to provide a more relaxed environment where OCdts could build confidence, practise their navigation, and gain exposure to a range of military skills. Moving between a series of training stands, they worked through navigation, medical scenarios, radio procedure, and other military knowledge, with plenty of opportunities to learn, ask questions, and develop their understanding.

It was a valuable chance to reinforce the skills built throughout ADX while learning from instructors and peers in a supportive environment. With the patrol complete, OCdts carried out post-exercise administration, bringing their time in the field to a close and wrapping up another successful stage of ADX 2026.
