An Excellent first joint training experience between the Welsh Ambulance Service’s specialist Cymru High Acuity Response Unit and 203 Multirole Medical Regiment at the new medical training facility at our Army Reserve Base 🏥

The course focused on trauma care in challenging and austere environments, including:
⚡️ Ketamine use in trauma management
🫁 Advanced airway adjuncts and video laryngoscopy techniques
❤️ Mechanical chest compression device application
🚑 Realistic trauma scenarios including RTCs and busy nightclub incidents

A brilliant opportunity to strengthen teamwork, clinical skills, and decision-making under pressure, with more to come! Huge thanks to everyone involved in delivering such valuable training.

💥April Soldier Highlight 💥

Sgt Dod is an exceptional and talented member of 203 MMR. She has excelled in Army Rugby, proudly representing the Women’s British Army Rugby team for 10 years and playing in the Army v Navy inter-service campaign at Twickenham.

Professionally, she has deployed on global exercises as a critical care nurse, demonstrating outstanding clinical expertise under pressure.

Beyond her core role, Sgt Dod has displayed impressive leadership, confidence, and resilience through a range of adventurous training activities across both mountain and maritime environments.

Thank you Sgt Dod!

Pressure exposes preparation.

At 203 Multirole Medical Regiment, we train constantly—
in the field, on the ranges, in hospital environments, in the classroom, in sports, on parade squares, and through adventure training from the mountains to the seas.

Every exercise is designed to build operational capability, improved tactical flexibility, clinical continuity and confidence all while sharpening our medical and soldiering skills & strengthening the camaraderie that defines our unit.

If you’re looking to push yourself alongside your studies or your career, this could be your next step.

As medics, we are still soldiers first—and that means proving our skills on the ranges.

Here are our troops completing the ACMT, firing from both supported and unsupported positions, adapting quickly as targets appeared and fell. It was all about applying the marksmanship principles, demonstrating safe and effective weapon handling, and maintaining accuracy under pressure.

Of course, a warm brew ☕️ and some sunshine on the ranges made it a great weekend all around.

🌋FUNDRAISING UPDATE🌋

Dear 203 MMR friends,

With a heavy heart, I’ve had to make the difficult decision to postpone my trek to Everest Base Camp until 2027 due to the current political climate. I was due to leave this Thursday, however, my flight was planned to go through the UAE. As you can appreciate, the FCO are not recommending this route and for this reason, I’ve had to postpone my trip.

This hasn’t been an easy choice, especially knowing the incredible support I’ve already received. I’m truly grateful to every single one of you who has donated to the Caerphilly Veterans Support Hub — your kindness and belief in what I’m trying to do means more than I can put into words.

Because of your support, I’m not stopping. I’ll be taking on a new challenge here in the UK so I can continue raising funds and doing my part. I’ll share more details soon, and I hope you’ll continue to stand with me on this journey.

Thank you all, genuinely.

Your dedication, resilience, and commitment to service have brought you to this incredible milestone — and this is only the beginning. We look forward to seeing the impact you will make in the Unit and beyond.

Well done, both — we’re full of Welsh Medic Pride!

🏔️ THE TREK TRAINING CONTINUES… 🇬🇧

Major McGuffie is putting in the miles on the road to Everest Base Camp — pushing through altitude, terrain, and exhaustion — all to raise vital funds for the Caerphilly Veterans Support Hub.

This isn’t just a challenge. It’s a commitment to those who’ve served. 💪

Every donation, no matter the size, makes a real difference to veterans who need support right here at home. If you’ve been meaning to donate, share, or tag someone who might help — now’s the time.

Let’s get behind him and show what Welsh Medic pride looks like in action.

A true team player who strengthens both our unit and our service.
