The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC) Community Fund is now OPEN.

Applications for this round of funding must be received by the OPFCC by 5:00pm on Friday 30th October 2026.

The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner’s Community Fund provides grants of up to £2,500 to support local projects that help make communities across Cumbria safer and stronger.

Funding can support project activities, equipment, resources and project-specific staffing costs. The Community Fund is intended to support projects that provide additional benefit to the community through new, improved or expanded activity or resources that organisations would not otherwise be able to provide.

Funding comes from property that cannot be returned and has been legally sold by the police, along with contributions from the Commissioner’s budget.

A man who carried out a string of offences including theft and assault has been banned from Carlisle city centre - following work carried out by our neighbourhood police officers.

A five-year Criminal Behaviour Order has been imposed at court on Osam Ahmed Mohammed, 18, following his sentencing for the offences.

Mohammed, of Aglionby Street, Carlisle, admitted obstructing a constable; common assault; theft from a shop and breach of bail.

For these offences he was given a 12 month community order at Carlisle’s magistrates’ court, along with the Criminal Behaviour Order.

The Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) imposes the following conditions on Mohammed:
• Not to enter Carlisle city centre, defined as being the area bounded by: the Settle to Carlisle railway line, Castle Way, Georgian Way, Victoria Place, Howard Place, Warwick Road, Aglionby Street, Cecil Street, Tait Street and Crown Street.

This prohibition shall not apply where:
• He is travelling on public transport and is attending Carlisle railway station, provided he has or is buying a train ticket.
• He is attending an appointment with listed authorities or services.

We would encourage anyone who witnesses the terms of such a court order being broken to contact the police immediately.

The punishment for breaking the terms of a CBO can be up to five years in prison.

Anyone who sees Mohammed breaching the terms of the order is asked to call police on 101.

Carlisle & Wigton NPT have received numerous questions and comments surrounding officers using e-bikes.

Officers use 'pedal assist e-bikes' to patrol areas around the neighbourhoods covering our area. These bikes are electric but require pedal movement for the officers to use the electrical power meaning these bike are legal.

Cumbria Constabulary are increasingly encountering illegally modified bikes, such as battery packs taped or zip-wired to pedal cycles, breaching electrically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC) regulations. Many are fitted with lithium batteries, posing fire risks because of unregulated imports. The twist-and-go function is often enabled, removing the need to pedal and rendering the bike illegal under EAPC standards. These bikes are often ridden by criminals and organised crime groups - meaning these bikes are illegal.

When a rider attempts to make off from police, officers may use reasonable and proportionate force to prevent their escape and protect the public. Our priority is, and always will be, public safety.

For those asking:
❌ No, we are not targeting innocent road users.
❌ No, we do not stop people without reason.
✅ Yes, we will continue to take action against illegal e-bikes.
✅ Yes, we will continue to act where people place themselves and other in danger.
✅ If a police officer identifies themselves and tells you to stop, stop. Doing so can prevent the need for force to be used.
✅ If you are old enough to ride and e-bike in public, you are old enough to be held accountable for your actions.
✅ Don't ride illegal e-bikes and put yourself or others in danger

The bottom lines is simple: if you don't want police attention, don't engage in criminal or dangerous behaviour.

Police officers investigating reports of break-ins in the Brampton area (east of Carlisle) arrested a man who has been charged with offences.

Nathan Stewart, 29, of no fixed address was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning (28 Sept).

He has been charged with going equipped for burglary and an offence of making off without payment. He was remanded to attend Carlisle Magistrates’ Court today.

Officers investigating have recovered a bicycle which they are keen to reunite with its owner.

It is a ‘Giant’ brand bicycle.

People are asked to check their outbuildings in case they are missing such a bicycle.

Anyone coming forward to claim it will be expected to provide proof of ownership.

Over the past two weeks Carlisle Neighbourhood Police have seen an increase in Anti-social behaviour across the city. Over the weekend two dispersal orders have been put in place at the City Centre to try to stop Anti-social behaviour.

On Saturday night police engaged with over 100 youths in the City Centre over different incidents of Anti-social behaviour.

Calls were made to police reporting stones and eggs being thrown, verbal abuse, intimidating behaviour, racially motivated harassment, street fighting and drunken disorder.

One teenager was arrested for multiple offences. Taken to custody, interviewed with their parent present and released with strict bail conditions including a curfew condition.
Another five have been voluntarily interviewed, with a further four interviews booked in the coming weeks.

Parents, do you know where your children are, who they are associating with, what they are doing. Nearly all the parents we speak to are unaware of the disorder their children are causing.

Below shows CCTV of nearly 60 youths in one small section of the City Centre on Saturday night. This incident involved multiple members of the public reporting disorder and anti-social behaviour.

Over the coming weeks officers will be identifying suspects on CCTV, capturing their images and contacting schools, so we can have a chat about their behaviour in front of parents.

We thank residents for their continued support, engaging with officers and making us aware of these incidents. Please continue to report these incidents on 101 for non-emergencies or 999 in case of an emergency.

Cumbria Cadets from around the county completed community engagement for World Gratitude Week. The were involved in litter picking, making teas at a care home, helping at a local hospice to make fundraising packs and distributing thank you cards to police officers and staff, with sweet treats. These acts of appreciation were to give back to their local area and support the local community who provide amazing services.
They all did a great job and took a lot of pride in volunteering for good causes.🫶🏼 🍫 💌 👮🏼

No patrol car? No problem! 🚲

Carlisle NPT officer 5454, today patrolled Carlisle City Centre and Bitts Park, had the opportunity to speak with lots of people along the way.

Officers are aware of multiple incidents of anti-social behaviour that occurred in Stanwix on Saturday 19th September. Teenagers have thrown eggs and stones at houses and vehicles. These incidents are being investigated, and the children are being identified. They will be spoken to with their parents and action will be taken.
