Thank you very much to all those who attended the Carlisle Fire Station Open Day on the 15th at Carlisle East Fire Station.

We are now proud to announce that £2271.50 was raised in aid of the Firefighters Charity! 👏

This is an excellent effort, and we could not have achieved this without the support of each and every one of you, as well as for the generous donations from Local Businesses.

Disappointing that we are still attending incidents involving supposed ‘controlled burns’. You may think that you have deemed it safe, but the vegetation is so dry, all it takes is a stray spark to start a secondary fire, just like an incident we have just attended near Wreay.

Please be responsible- don’t use open flames, fireworks, bonfires, disposable bbq’s, or other heat sources.

Unfortunately the crew have just had to deal with a large grass fire on the riverbank, behind the Pirelli Factory- caused by a carelessly discarded cigarette.

Please please please, be more careful. This had the potential to be a much larger fire.

Do not use naked flames, have camp fires, or use disposable barbecues when the ground is so dry, and be responsible disposing of ci******es.

Thanks to the young gentleman for alerting the emergency services and giving such a precise location, so the crew could deal with the incident quickly before it had chance to spread.

Last hour, to come down see the crew (Marshall really) & all the other fantastic people / organisations that have come to support our Open Day, for our charity.
