📣 CARLTON COMMUNITY HUB IS BACK OPEN! 🎉🙌

Emergency repairs to our building have been completed and the hub is back open as usual from today.

HUGE thanks to our friends at St Paul's and St Cyprian's churches for hosting sessions whilst our building was out of action 💛.

Thanks also to our volunteer teams for being so adaptable and continuing to run sessions despite the challenges!👏

Totally agree with these comments - residents of Carlton deserve to have modern leisure facilities - my children learnt to swim with Carlton Forum swimming club and it’s brilliant that future generations can too

Please note these temporary changes if you use Carlton Community Centre

Owing to the ongoing problems with our ceiling we have had to make alternative temporary arrangements for the Foodbank and Community café sessions at Carlton Hub.

The Council is currently consulting on an Article 4 Direction within the Netherfield area which would remove permitted development rights to change the use of houses to small HMOs of up to 6 residents, meaning planning permission would be required.

This proposal is being brought forward to help the Council better manage the concentration and distribution of HMOs, ensure balanced and sustainable communities, and address local concerns.

The Council is keen to hear from residents, landlords and businesses before any decision is made. Your feedback will help inform whether and how the Direction is implemented. Further details, including the full Article 4 Direction notice, the areas affected, and how to submit your comments, are set out on the Council’s website https://orlo.uk/0agMu

More good news from our new Labour prime minister

Open tomorrow for Food Club

Open tomorrow for Food Club

Just to reassure all of our Food club members, although the cafe ceiling has fallen in, we are still running our Thursday Food club sessions. We will have the waiting area and box collections in the church but unfortunately cannot offer any refreshments and have no toilet facilities.

It is still possible to sign up as a new member, £1 to join and the just £4 per week, for a box of food similar to the one pictured below. The food club starts at 12 noon and typically we are 'sold out' by around 12:45.

A reminder that work has started to create a Changing Places Toilet at Carlton Square. A Changing Places Toilet is a large, accessible toilet equipped with additional space and specialised equipment for use by people with a wide range of disabilities.

The works overall are expected to take around a month. During this time if you are shopping at Carlton Square, access points to the car park by vehicle and on foot may change.

A road closure will be in place while some of the works take place. This means residents will only be able to:

• Access the Farmfoods car park from the south entrance
• Access the top car park from the North entrance

Thank you for your patience and understanding while this works takes place. For any questions about the works please email: [email protected].

Eligible people will be able to register for access to this Changing Places facility and the one at King George V in Arnold, to ensure they can use the facilities, and to safeguard them against vandalism and misuse. Further information on this process will be shared in due course.

The new Changing Places Toilet has received £145,000 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
