Clarification Regarding Removal of Event Banner

We are aware of a post suggesting that a banner for the 1940s event was removed due to the presence of an 'England flag'. This is not the case.

The banner was removed by Lancashire Constabulary following a safety concern regarding visibility at the junction of New Street and Lancaster Road. The junction can be difficult to exit, particularly when turning right towards Crag Bank, and the banner was reported to be obstructing driversโ€™ views, creating a potential risk to vehicles and pedestrians.

The removal was undertaken on safety grounds, and the banner will be returned to its owner where possible.

The council fully supports community events such as the 1940s weekend and we are happy to work with community groups to help ensure that signage is located in appropriate and safe positions.
Residents are encouraged to seek information from official sources or contact the council directly with any queries.

โœ… Update: Oil Clearance in Carnforth
Three 25-litre drums of potentially hazardous oil, left at Shore Road close to the watercourse, have now been safely collected and emptied into a waste oil tank at Dennis Barnfield Ltdโ€™s yard here in Carnforth.

Carnforth was proudly represented at Morecambeโ€™s Armed Forces Weekend, as Town Mayor Ian Laurence attended alongside the Mayorโ€™s Cadet, Cadet Corporal Dan Boyd of 2246 (Carnforth) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets โœˆ๏ธ.

The event brought together local communities, service personnel, veterans and cadet groups to recognise and celebrate the dedication of our Armed Forces ๐ŸŽ–๏ธ.

It was a fantastic opportunity to honour those who serve, while highlighting the important role that young people and community organisations play in supporting them.

โ˜€๏ธ Warm Weather Ahead โ€“ Stay Safe This Week! โ˜€๏ธ
Temperatures are set to rise significantly over the coming days, with warmer-than-usual conditions expected across the area. While the sunshine is welcome, itโ€™s important to take a few simple precautions to keep yourself and others safe during the heat.

๐ŸŒก๏ธ Top tips for staying safe in hot weather:
Stay hydrated โ€“ drink plenty of water throughout the day
Avoid the midday sun (11amโ€“3pm) where possible
Wear light, loose clothing and use sunscreen
Check in on vulnerable neighbours, friends, and family
Never leave children or pets in parked cars
Keep indoor spaces cool by closing curtains during the hottest parts of the day

Letโ€™s all enjoy the good weather responsibly and look out for one another. Stay cool and take care ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’ง
