Still looking good - it's nearly four years since the Carrbridge 300 Art Sculpture was installed, and I have now carried out some maintenance and repair work plus installed a new plaque supplied by Sustrans, who were the main sponsor through their Art Roots programme.

Well a bit of a nervous day for us both today. The two uprights have been moved from the compound to the final location by Alasdair from Spey Valley Hire Centre with their big hiab truck and after a bit of tugging it all fits together....phew. Tomorrow we have to fit the Osprey with fish and a couple of little finishing jobs and it will be all ready for the unveiling on Thursday. It is now all tucked up under a very big tarpaulin. Thanks due to Maria and James of Craigellachie Guest House for valued assistance today.
Time for a beer or two. Spey Valley Hire Centre Craigellachie Guest House

We spent this morning getting the osprey with fish to fit on the top of the upright, I think we have it sorted, just have to do a final fit once the uprights are installed as it will be a bit too delicate to fit now. Both uprights have also had the second coat of oil so are now ready for transporting to the final position on the foundations. Tonight Alice is trial fitting the ceramic tiles for the "river" and she will be laying and grouting them into position tomorrow assuming its not raining. Here's a sneak preview of some of the small details of the installation.

Alice has delivered the first of three carvings to Culloden House Hotel. They are part of the agreement allowing us to use the lovely burr Elm felled at Culloden House for our art installation. This carving has had three coats of Osmo oil which really enhances the wood grain. The hotel are delighted with the carving and look forward to dispaying it in the grounds of the hotel.
Update on the Bridge 300 Carving installation.....the paving around the Installation has now been completed by local Carrbridge builder Peter Gemmell. I think Alice will be giving the main carving uprights their first coat of this oil this evening. Everything seems to be on target.....we hope. Culloden House, Peter Gemmell General Builder

It's all starting to come together at last. The seat portion and steel posts have been concreted into position, the turf has been removed around the foundation slab ready for paving to be laid and Alice has got to the stage of coating the two big uprights with preservative ready for first coat of oil tomorrow. She has also finished the Osprey with a fish which will be fitted above the taller upright. We just need to finalise how we are going to attach it to the top of the upright.
