Members of Castle Douglas Rotary Club had a brilliant time helping out at Carlingwark Loch Parkrun on Saturday morning. Some of our members even took part in the 5K run. While there we presented a cheque of £250 to the Parkrun team, money raised through our recent race night
Parkrun, runs every Saturday morning from the town’s Carlingwark Park 9:15am for a 9:30am start.

Members from Castle Douglas Rotary Club recently popped in to see Castle Douglas Scout Group on Friday evening with a donation of £250. During the visit, members heard all about the group’s exciting plans for a camp trip in June. The donation will go towards supporting the cost of camping equipment for the Cubs and Scouts. We wish them all the best for their upcoming adventure and look forward to hearing all about it! 🏕️

The club were delighted to receive an update from Ethan, whom we have proudly sponsored for a second year on his hockey journey. It’s fantastic to hear what he’s achieved and to see the great progress he’s making, we look forward to watching what the future holds for this promising young lad.

Yesterday, members of our Rotary Club were delighted to present a cheque for £250 to @ Galloway RDA During the visit, we had the opportunity to learn about how the group operates and saw one of their adult rides in action, enjoying a horse riding lesson followed by some stable management activities. It was fantastic to see the positive impact the group has on its participants.

Club President Derek Crichton, and member George Dickson stopped by Stewartry Youth Darts School yesterday and presented the group with a cheque of £250, which was money raised from our last month’s Race Night. While there they heard all about how the group got started, and were delighted to hear that in the short time they’ve been up and running they have over 60 kids regularly attending sessions each week. We think the group are a great addition to the town, a big well done to the organisers who give up their time every Sunday to make it happen. 👏🏼

Good Luck Sam!

The Rotary Club of Castle Douglas is delighted to support Sam Brown as he prepares to travel to Italy with the Scotland Judo team for an international training opportunity. Sam has been dedicated to judo since the age of five, showing remarkable commitment and passion for the sport over the years. Club President Derek Crichton praised Sam’s enthusiasm and hard work, and on behalf of the Rotary Club, wished him every success in this exciting next step of his journey.

At the start of this month, Castle Douglas Rotary Club held the annual Rotary Primary School quiz. Seven primary schools took part in the tournament held at Castle Douglas primary School on the 5th of March, which saw Crossmichael Primary School take first place, with Hargate Primary School coming in a close second. Both teams will now go though to the next round. A big well done to the winners and all who part 👏🏼

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Rotary Race Night! 🐎🎲
It was a brilliant evening full of fun, laughter and friendly competition. A special thank you to our generous sponsors and to everyone who placed bets, bought horses and cheered on the races – the dice certainly made it a lively and interactive night! Thanks to your support we’ve raised valuable funds for local voluntary groups. We’ll be sharing news of the awards in the coming weeks. A great example of our community coming together for local good causes. We hope these photos capture the spirit of the night! 🙏
