Castleford Air Cadets is located next to the Civic Centre in the town and is a large squadron of around 35 cadets as well as various staff members. The Air Training Corps "Air Cadets" provides many young people with the opport

unity to do many exciting activities that otherwise they would never have the chance to do. Some of these include flying, gliding, shooting, adventure training, sports and many other diverse activities. Also as a cadet within the Air Training Corps you will have the chance to develop many skills such as teamwork, leadership, discipline, communication, self-confidence and many other personal developments.

Solo flight! Our very own Corporal Joynes has flown solo in a Viking Glider from RAF Topcliffe. After months of training and flights and after completing a rigours final check flight with an instructor Lewis flew solo! A massive well done and a big thank you to 645 Volunteer Gliding Squadron! This week some of our Cadets spent a day at the National Air and Space Industry Day. They got to see and look around various military aircraft including the Red Arrows while also talking with various companies about potential future careers! They had a fantastic day out! On Friday evening, our Cadets took part in introductory mountain biking training. The session focused on fundamental handling skills, in preparation for a future ride over more challenging and technical terrain. Look like fun? Last weekend our Cadets took part in an archery session with our colleagues at Askern Squadron. They learnt how to safely use a bow and the techniques required to hit the target!
