We are seeing some very icy conditions on roads across the north of the county despite all our primary and secondary roads having been gritted from midnight.
Please take care on all roads until temperatures start to warm up later this morning. Salt becomes less effective at the very low temperatures we had overnight.
We have reopened the A5004 Long Hill, and we hope that the Cat and Fiddle, A54 and A537 and the A53 Buxton to Leek roads will open later this morning.
The B6001 Grindleford to Hathersage road is closed due to fallen trees. We will get these moved asap and reopen this road as soon as we can.
Main roads closed include:
The A6024 Holme Moss
Rushup Edge - Castleton to Chapel road
Winnats Pass - Castleton to Chapel road
Perryfoot - Sparrowpit to Winnats Pass road
A57 Snake Pass
Some of our farmer contractors will be out again this morning.
After a very cold start we are expecting road surface temperatures to rise later today and we should see a rapid thaw. Temperatures will drop again tonight, with some snow expected over the hills of the Peak District, and rain elsewhere.
Stay safe out there. https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/transport-roads/roads-traffic/road-maintenance/snow-info/latest-update/latest-snow-update.aspx
