Another great event switching the Xmas lights on in Chard, the lights look amazing as ever. Around 800 plus people came to support the event and watch the lights get switched on which was amazing.

We have to remember all of the hard work that Chard Town Team volunteers put into getting the lights ready and planning the event, a big thank you to Kings Electrical Contractors and Chard Ammenaties team for helping the Town Tram put the lights up, Chard Carnival Committee for supplying all of the traffic management equipment and Marshall’s for the road closure and finally all of the amazing traders that attended the event.

🎄 🎅 🌲 Chard Christmas Lights Switch-On is this Saturday 22nd November 🎄 🎅 🌲

Chard Town Team have worked tirelessly over the last couple of months to plan the display and event as well as servicing and testing all of the lights ready for this years display. The Town Team have worked in partnership with Kings Electrical Contractors and the amenities team at Chard Town Council to install this year's Christmas lights. A small team of volunteers have also decorated around 100 Christmas Trees that have been put up outside shops, we are grateful to all of the traders in the town that have taken part and supported the display again this year.

🎄 The big Switch-On event is on Saturday 22nd November! Join us from outside of Chard Guildhall for festive fun, lights, and community spirit as we officially start the Christmas season in Chard!

⛄️ Chard Town Team and there team of volunteers have organised a Christmas Craft Fayre which will take place in the Guildhall from 10am-2pm and 4-8pm, there will also be street stalls and entertainment outside the Guildhall from 6pm.

🎅 Santa will be in his Grotto from 5pm in the Guildhall, please come along and give him your Christmas list, (there is a small charge of £2.50 and every child gets a gift)

❄️ There will be a parade led by the Mayor, Mace Bearer and Town Crier which will make its way down through the town at 6.45pm, followed by Chard Silverstar Majorettes, Father Christmas will travel down on his Sleigh and followed by Chard Evolution Majorettes. The lights will then be switched on by Chard Carnival Royalty and the Mayor of Chard from the balcony at the Guildhall.

🎄 Chard Town Team would like to thank everyone who has helped this year including all who have worked hard behind the scenes especially Chard Carnival Committee who have supplied all of the traffic management equipment and volunteered to man the road closures so that this amazing community event can take place. The town centre will be closed from 5pm until 9pm but all carparks will remain open.

Day 3 of putting up Christmas lights is complete, a huge thank you to King Electrical Contracting (Adam & Guy) and the Ammenaties team.
The light display is now all up and we move onto Christmas Trees outside the shops next week.
Switch on is Saturday 22nd 6pm

Another busy day putting up the Christmas decorations in the town, today was definitely a wet one but we battled through, big thank you to everyone who said hellos and to Chard CommuniTea Waffle for the tea and coffee.
