Today's shout out out goes to Community Champion Tim Eggins.

Tim has always been driven to do what he can to improve the local area.
Fighting for nature, supporting local businesses, helping community groups, making sure families have food, being a flood warden and a bikeability volunteer. Clearing drains, planting trees, raising money for many charities and speaking up for those who need it.

Community Champions keep Chard going and Tim plays his part, putting others first.

Today's shout out goes to Community Champion Serena Wootton. There can't be many people who have had such a positive influence on hundreds of families across our town and has given so much to improve where she lives.

She has pushed for better dental services, supported those in need, battled flood waters, volunteered in the food bank, worked with the police and helped keep our neighborhoods clean. Hosted events, coordinated vital services and spoken up for the needy. She leads the way and inspires others.

Chard would be worse off without Serena.

An interesting write up in today's Chard & Ilminster newspaper.
Councillor Richard Wilkins claims that "no planning decisions have been based on an out-of-date report" If that is the case, then the planning committee must have used updated information to pass the development of 67 homes on the A358 Hornsbury Hill. This is the information that the public are asking to see.

We would like to give a shout out to one of our Community Champions, Adam Loveridge.

Adam helps out all year round in the community, always putting others first.

One of his crucial roles is coordinating the towns flooding response, which can mean working through the night protecting homes and business. This has been a major issue in our community with serious weather events happening 3 times in the last 5 years alone.
He also has a passion for repairing items for residents and always supports those in need, he helps with stewarding at events and pitching in on the monthly community litter picks. Whatever the challenge, you can be sure Adam is usually there making a positive difference to the people of Chard and beyond

Green Councillors and members will be attending the Protest against Racism on 29th August. Somerset is a welcoming and tolerant county that celebrates it's diversity and will not be divided by those pushing fascist ideology.

In May 2027 there will be elections at both town and Unitary levels. If you have ever thought about becoming a councillor and representing your community, come along and have a chat. No previous experience is needed, just a desire to put others first and to bring fresh ideas to our area.
