The monthly Councillor Surgery takes place this Saturday. They provide an informal way of speaking to a Councillor on a one-to-one basis about any topics significant to you. This month Councillor Bates and Councillor Watson will be looking forward to talking to you.

Congratulations to Chard Town Council on their award for the first St. George's Day 'Shakespeare Shout'. They were awarded Best Community.

The Chard Town Crier performed the shout to a mixed crowd of Chard residents, including the Mayor, Scouts, Girl Guides, Brownies and St George on a horse.

This was the first year we have organised the Shakespeare Shout, and we plan to make it an annual event.

The shout is easy for Morris sides, local councils and club/pub managers to organise. It has zero cost.

One person reads four lines from Shakespeare's play Henry V, and the crowd responds by shouting the last line together:

"Cry 'God for Harry, England and Saint George!' "

Please note Paul’s Promotions Events were bitterly disappointed to cancel Sundays planned car boot sale, however they are now launching Chard Car Boot Sales starting this Sunday 10th May. After this the planned schedule will resume.

🎉 With it being a Bank Holiday our offices will be closed today, but the Guildhall team have put on a great event for families, and entry is FREE. Pop in between 11am-3pm, it looks like a lot of fun 🤩
Normal hours resume tomorrow with reception open from 9:30am. We hope our residents have had a great weekend.

🏆Chard Town Council are most honoured to receive “Best Community” award at the recent Shakespeare Shoutout that took place directly prior to our St. George’s Parade. With special thanks to Chard Town Crier and to all the groups involved in this community occasion that do the town proud and create a magnificent atmosphere.
