There's still time to help shape proposed improvements to the grass verges along City Way, before the consultation closes at 11.59pm on Monday 31 August. 🌳
Over time, sections of the verges have been damaged by vehicles parking or driving on them, leading to muddy surfaces, poor grass growth and a less attractive street environment.

We're proposing a range of improvements designed to protect these green spaces and enhance the streetscape, including:
βœ… Timber bollards to protect smaller verges
βœ… Timber knee-rail fencing for larger verge areas
βœ… New cycle stands near the pharmacy
The scheme aims to keep verges greener and easier to maintain, reduce mud and rutting, improve the street's appearance, and help create a safer, more welcoming environment for pedestrians.
These important green spaces and mature trees are a key part of City Way's character. We want to hear your views on the proposals.

πŸš—πŸ» Think you're OK to drive after a few drinks? The facts from Kent Road Safety tell a different story ⚠️

πŸ“Š If you drive at twice the legal alcohol limit, you're at least 30 times more likely to cause a road crash and 50 times more likely to be involved in a fatal crash than someone who hasn't been drinking.

πŸ“Š Around 1 in 6 road deaths involve a drink driver.

πŸ»πŸš— Be the person who makes the smart, responsible choice:

πŸš• Book a taxi, or use public transport
πŸ‘₯ Agree a designated driver
🏠 Stay over

πŸ’™ You've got so much more to lose than your license. If you're drinking, don't drive

βœ… More access to work, education and training opportunities
βœ… Extra support with the cost of living

Currently, in some areas, disabled bus passes can only be used between 9.30am and 11pm on weekdays. The new change means eligible pass holders will be able to travel for free regardless of the time of day.

🚧 A2 High Street and Mierscourt Road Junction - improvement works update

Good progress continues on the junction improvement scheme at A2 High Street and Mierscourt Road, with works currently running ahead of schedule.

βœ… Contractors have completed the footway improvements on the southern side of the A2 and at the Mierscourt Road junction. Work is now progressing on the northern side of the A2, alongside construction of the new pedestrian island.

πŸ›£οΈ Marlborough Highways has now programmed the resurfacing works, which are scheduled to take place overnight on:

Wednesday, 9 September
Thursday, 10 September
Friday, 11 September

This will be followed by surfacing works overnight on: Monday, 14 September

To safely carry out these works, overnight road closures will be required:

πŸ“ A2 High Street will be closed between Ivy Street and High Dewar Road

πŸ“ Mierscourt Road will be closed between the A2 and Longford Close

We appreciate these closures may cause some inconvenience for residents, businesses and those travelling through the area. By carrying out the works overnight, disruption is being kept to a minimum, while allowing the resurfacing to be completed as quickly and safely as possible. Please allow extra time for journeys and follow signed diversion routes where required.

🚦 Barring any unforeseen issues, we fully expect Mierscourt Road to reopen as planned, with the new traffic signals installed and operational in time for the start of the new school term.

Works to the footways and within the pay and display car park will continue into September.

πŸ“’ For full details of this scheme and other Highways Improvements and Road Safety projects, please visit: https://orlo.uk/jjnJ3

⚠️ Please note that all planned dates are subject to change due to adverse weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.
