Are you drinking enough water?

Water is one of the most important nutrients, helping to keep the body working and your mind concentrating.

💧Aim for 4-6 cups of fluid each day for children under 8 years old.
💧6-8 cups for those aged 8 or over.

🕓Give your child a cup of fluid regularly - before school, at meal times, when they get home from school.

❌Avoid fizzy drinks, milkshakes and sugary squash, as they can provide excess energy. Instead opt for water, or milk (in moderation). Pure fruit juice can count as 1 of your 5 a day, but only 150ml as it is still sugary.

🌞Remember, you’ll need to drink more when the weather is hot, or on an active day.

🧊Add some fruit and ice to your water to give it some flavour.

Are you eating enough iron?

Iron helps to support growth, concentration, and energy in children. How can you get more iron into your diet?

🐟Eat at least two portions of fish per week, one of which should be oily fish like salmon or sardines.
🍚Add chickpeas or lentils to curries, bolognaises or rice.
🫑Add peppers or tomatoes to your dishes, which are a source of Vitamin C. This will help your body to absorb iron.

What are you doing to make sure you get more iron? Share your favourite tips and recipes with us in the comments!
