Join this important workshop in Great Bromley to help shape better support for people living with cancer who are experiencing cost-of-living and financial pressures. The event is open to people across Essex, including professionals, volunteers, carers and those with lived experience.

We are delighted to invite you to attend our Macmillan Community Voices Workshop: Exploring the Experiences of People Living with Cancer – Cost of Living and Financial Pressures.

Co-designed with partners that support and work with those experiencing cost of living and financial pressures. Our in-person workshop in Great Bromley, Essex, will explore the themes and feedback that we've gathered to date and look at how we can collectively bring about positive change in future cancer care experiences.

Attendees are invited from across Essex and from a wide range of voluntary and professional services, and we hope to also be joined on the day by individuals and carers of loved ones who wish to contribute to this important conversation. Please note that this workshop will include challenging cancer related conversations that may be difficult to hear or overwhelming.

Please get in touch with us at [email protected] or call us on 01206 505250 if you would like to learn more about the day.

📅 1 October for other eligible adults, including people aged 65 and over and those with certain long-term health conditions

🎥 We’re in Chelmsford today with BBC Look East and BBC Essex as our summer vaccination catch-up clinic has its final day.

The NHS vaccination van has been offering catch-up vaccinations to children and young people throughout August, helping families make sure they are protected ahead of the new school and university year.

So far, over 440 vaccinations have been given across the clinics in Chelmsford and Maldon.

Today is the final opportunity to visit the vaccination van in Chelmsford High Street if your child or young person has missed a vaccination.

Our team can check their vaccination record, answer any questions and help arrange any vaccinations they may have missed.

👀 Keep an eye out for our story on BBC Look East later this evening.

Help shape the future of digital health and care in Essex 💻

Digital tools such as the NHS App can make it easier to access health services, information and support.

But we know digital doesn’t work equally well for everyone. Some people find services difficult to use, others find there are too many different platforms, and some people simply prefer to access support in other ways.

We want to hear about your experience.

Take our short, anonymous survey and tell us:

📱 What works well for you
💬 What could be better
🔎 What would make digital services easier to use
🤝 How we can make sure everyone can access the support they need

It takes just 3 to 5 minutes to complete.

Your feedback will help shape digital health and care services that are simpler, more accessible and designed around the needs of people across Essex.

📅 The survey closes 30 September 2026.

👉 Have your say - see link in comments.

Want to see what people have told us before? Our Insight Bank brings together engagement reports, survey findings and insight from NHS Essex and organisations across Essex, showing how we listen to what matters to local communities. Today (Wednesday 26 August) is the last day that the Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust vaccination van will be in Chelmsford city centre before the new academic year starts.

Parents and carers can speak to healthcare professionals, check whether their child is up to date with routine vaccinations and receive advice on catching up with any missed doses.

The NHS is particularly encouraging parents and carers to check vaccination records if their child is:

- Starting school for the first time
- Moving to secondary school
- Beginning college or sixth form
- Preparing to start university
- New to the UK
- Known to have missed previous vaccination appointments

It's never too late to catch up and help protect your child against illnesses such as measles, whooping cough and meningitis.
