Have you checked out Salt and Cellar by the river on King Heads Walk yet? Two words: Bou. Gie. 🥂

Their menus cover many bases, with tapas, salads, burgers, small plates, steaks, fish and chips, curries, desserts and more besides. Most importantly, they do chips AND fries. 🤏☑️

They opened over the summer and have been awarded that all-important 5 stars for hygiene. 🏆

Oh yeah — they also do weekend bottomless brunches. 🍾

A fantastic addition to the riverside, lovely, inside and out — worth a look?

We’ve been saving these clips for a rainy day. Judging by the view from the Civic Centre window, it’s about time… ☔

Filmmakers and did a FANTASTIC job bringing ’s wonderful words about Chelmsford to life, with help from a host of Chelmsford legends.

You can see just a tiny glimpse of everyone’s hard work in this reel. 📽️

Wow! A massive well done to Chelmsford Market’s very own Pauline on being awarded Honorary Life Membership from the National Association of British Market Authorities! 😮 So well deserved. 👏💖

We know Pauline’s best market buddy Kirsten, the market team and traders — as well as everyone here at the council — are incredibly proud of all Pauline has achieved. 🫡

A few months ago we marked her 10 years at the market — now there’s more icing for the cake. 🎂

⚠️ New Street road closure, Thursday 1 October 2026. ⚠️

Remember the tree that came down in New Street the other day? Our teams now need to do more follow-up work before windier weather sets in. 💨

New Street will be closed tomorrow, Thursday 1 October, so this work can be done safely. 🛑

Please avoid Waterloo Lane car park tomorrow. Businesses on Waterloo Lane will have access via Victoria Road and Riverside Leisure Centre.

So sorry if this affects you — our teams will try to get everything wrapped up as soon as possible. 🙏
