I am currently seeking support from colleagues at the County Council to have this policy brought before Scrutiny.

While I also have concerns about undocumented people being left unattended, there is no evidence at all to suggest a rise in crime from asylum seekers. The police have confirmed this as does the council's own report.

In fact people in Colchester have issues with teenage gangs and street drinkers.

There are also questions of what these security guards will do. Do they just walk about the city? Do they follow asylum seekers all day? Do they just respond to emergencies?

Frankly I won't be taking any lectures from Reform about protecting women when they stand candidates who are openly misogynistic and ones who are domestic abusers.

Here's Alan Turing, who led the Enigma project in WW2, which helped save the British war efforts and saved thousands of lives. He was a hero and patriot.

I share this as he was also a gay man who was persecuted by the state for his sexuality, forced to undergo chemical castration and then committed su***de.

After the horrific homophobic comments I saw on my post about Pride i think it's about time people took a step back and thought about their own prejudices.

We need to talk about Climate Change.

We're in the midst of our 4th heatwave this year. Europe is on fire again. Parts of England are on fire. We are suffering a drought in the East with one reservoir at critical levels. And the world's temperature is rising every year.

Yet Reform in Essex peddle this ideology that Climate Change is a myth and refer to net-zero 'stupid' (o the irony).

When questioned on his views, all the Reform council leader could say was "well I'm not a scientist " - yet he literally ignores credible scientists.

Reform with the dodgy deals.

Surprise surprise - its most detailed policy area appears to be crypto.

Meanwhile, there is little serious detail on social care, the NHS, or how to grow the economy.That says a lot about its priorities.
